Premier League preview and odds: Manchester City vs Everton

October 15 , 2016 15:00pm - Etihad Stadium

Premier League

Premier League leaders Manchester City will look to bounce back from their first defeat of the season when they welcome fifth-ranked Everton to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Manchester City drop first points of the season

After winning their opening six games, Manchester City finally dropped their first points of the season when they fell 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the last game week. Despite that defeat, Pep Guardiola`s men are still sitting at the top of the league just one point above the Londoners. City will look to get back to winning ways when they face an Everton side who have stumbled slightly after a strong start.

The Citizens have won all three of their home games this season and have scored the first goal in all but one of their seven games. They are the league`s joint-top scorers with a tally of 18 and have the fifth-tightest defence.

Meanwhile, Everton come into this match with the second-best defensive record in the league, having shipped just three goals all term. At the other end of the pitch they have managed a decent return of 11 goals, five of which have been scored by Romelu Lukaku.

The Toffees drew 1-1 at home to Crystal Palace last time out and prior to that, they lost for the first time this season away to Bournemouth (1-0). They currently sit in fifth place in the table just four points adrift of the leaders.

Team news

Man City`s injury issues have yet to ease with Sterling, Kompany, De Bruyne, Delph and Sagna all set to watch from the sidelines.

Meanwhile, the visitors are in a similar boat and will have to make do without the injured group of McCarthy, Gibson, Besic, Pennington, Browning and Baines.
