Promtion Contenders Watford Look For Forest Victory

After all of Bournemouth, Norwich and Middlesbrough won yesterday, Watford will be hoping to take away a victory from their match at Nottingham Forest`s City Ground tonight as they look to keep pace with their automatic promotion rivals. Sitting on 79 points, a win would see the Hornets go level with second placed Norwich, a triumph by a four goal margin giving them a superior goal difference that would see them usurp Alex Neil`s side. A defeat for the promotion contenders would set back their top tier hopes seeing them, you would expect, having to take all three points from all three of their remaining matches.

There is little at stake for Nottingham Forest who, despite their 10th position, are a full 16 points off the play-off zone. With these ambitions unattainable, the East Midlands club`s sole motivator is to try and maintain a top half finish. Something of a surprise victory at home to Watford would see them jump above Blackburn Rovers whilst a defeat at the hands of the Hertfordshire side would see them liable to be superseded by Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton should they fail to pick up all three points next weekend.

These two clubs have played just once already this season, this being in the reverse second tier fixture back in October at Watford`s Vicarage Road. Neither team managed to get their noses in front at the end of the 90 minutes, the game ending 2-2.

It took all of 30 minutes for Odion Ighalo to put the hosts in front though that lead lasted less than 60 seconds as Michail Antonio levelled up. The first 45 ended 1-1 before Matej Vydra converted a penalty just after the restart to restore the home side`s advantage. A second goal from Forest`s Antonio saw the spoils shared.

The Nottinghamshire club played this match under the stewardship of former manager Stuart Pearce prior to his replacement with Dougie Freedman. As now, Watford were under the direction of Slavisa Jokanovic.

Betvictor`s 13/1 is the best price on yet another 2-2 draw tonight whilst Bwin`s 17/4 says that exactly four goals will be scored once again. Ighalo is an 11/2 chance at both betfred and Betvictor to open the scoring whilst Antonio is available at bet365 at the best price of 18/1 to score two or more goals in the game once again. betfair`s 5/2 says that there will be a penalty awarded in the clash.

Despite their inability to get the better of Forest at home, Watford are the favourites to run out the away victors tonight. Jokanovic`s side can be backed at the best price of 5/4 at both betfred and Totesport. Whilst Betvictor are offering a home win at a price of 5/2, a second draw between the two sides can be picked up at 11/4 at boylesports.

Confidence in Watford will come from the fact that their hosts tonight have only scooped one solitary point in their last four games. A run of five consecutive home wins for Forest has been abruptly ended by back-to-back defeats at the City Ground.

These defeats came in very tight encounters with the margin of victory being one goal in each. betway have 13/10 on either club winning by one goal tonight with a Watford win by one goal being on offer at 31/10 at ladbrokes.

Watford are unbeaten in three having secured 2-0 victories in both of their last two games. Whilst it`s 13/1 (Betvictor) on the Hornets claiming another 2-0 triumph, Coral`s 17/5 says that they can win to nil again tonight.
