Colchester look the value bet in Leagues 1 and 2

League 1

Four teams have started the season with a perfect record in League One with two wins from two games. Peterborough are one such side and they are as short as 13/20 (betway) to defeat Oldham and make it three wins from three games.

Another side who have won their first three games are Leyton Orient scoring eight in the process and they are 6/4 (BETVICTOR/CORAL) to win at Stevenage as the hosts look for their first league victory since April 1st.

Walsall are once again defying the doubters and they are 6/5 (GENERAL) to make it a perfect three from three when they face Notts County who they’ve defeated just once in their last six.

One other side who have won both their games are Colchester although you would not think so the way they have been priced up by the bookamers. They are strong outsiders to get something from a visit to Bramall Lane thought this could be a case of pricing on reputation rather than actual form and current team strength. The U’s have started the season well with two wins from two games and have a real chance get something from this game. Joe Dunne and his team have seen off Gillingham and Port Vale 1-0 while the Blades lost to Brentford 3-1 last time out and were helped out in an opening day victory by Notts County having a man sent off in the first half. Burton have already come to Bramall Lane and won this season in the League Cup and with Kevin McDonald having left to go to Wolves the Blades may struggle to break sides down. Colchester have yet to concede a goal in the league so this could be a tight game. Take Colchester and the draw in the double chance market at 23/20 (bet365).

Two of the relegated sides from the Championship Bristol City and Wolves meet in the game of the day in League One and all the signs point to goals in this game, I especially like the 7/5 (ladbrokes) are offering on the visitors to score over 1.5 goals. Wolves look impressive against Gillingham hitting four in that match while Bristol City have shipped seven in their two league games so far.

In League Two four sides have won their opening two games with high scoring Oxford away to Torquay and the U’s are a 6/4 (BETVICTOR/paddy Power) chance for victory against a side who have won just one of the last home meetings between these sides. Fleetwood meanwhile are also six points from two games and they are evens (BETVICTOR) to see off a Burton side who made the play-offs last season.

Another side who have won both games are Chesterfield and they are away to a Rochdale side who have lost just one of their last ten games. If you think the Spireites can come out on top then you can back them to count on top at 17/10 (BETVICTOR).

Southend are the fourth side to have won their opening pair of matches and they are at home to Northampton though they will have to improve on a record of only win in the last six against the Cobblers in the league. A Southend victory is available at 13/10 (BETVICTOR). The best bet in this divison though comes in the game between York and Hartlepool.. York let us down last week when they lost to Dagenham and Redbridge though I am prepared to give them another chance especially at home where they have won three of the last four games in this league. Take the Minstermen at 5/4 (BETVICTOR/paddy Power) against a side who have won just one of their last eight away games.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Colchester and draw double chance v Sheff Utd 23/20 (bet365)
SILVER: York to beat Hartlepool, 5/4 (BETVICTOR/paddy power)
BRONZE: Wolves to score over 1.5 goals v Bristol City, 7/5 (ladbrokes)
