Two games into the season and just four teams have a 100% record, Watford, Blackpool, Nottingham Forest and Wigan (though the Latics have only played once). Can these sides keeps this record up? Here is our guide to the best of the Championship bets this weekend.
Watford are 19/10 (betway) to continue their perfect start to the season though they face a tough test against Reading. The Royals are a well drilled side who will be tough to break down. Four points from two games has been a decent start for them with a victory over Ipswich followed by a draw at Bolton. The draw might be the best bet in this a close looking game and that is 5/2 (GENERAL) while a Reading victory is 8/5 (BETVICTOR).
Nottingham Forest will have a tough ask as they look to maintain their perfect start against a Bolton side who will also be challenging for promotion. Forest are the 5/4 (GENERAL) favourites as they seek to end a run of seven games without victory in the league against Bolton. The draw which has been the result in both Bolton games this season is a 12/5 (GENERAL) chance while the first Trotters victory of the season is 5/2 (SPREADEX).
Blackpool are another team to have won both their games so far this season though they did ride their luck against Barnsley last week. The Tangerines are 11/4 (boylesports/SPREADEX) for victory while Boro to win just their second in their last seven against Blackpool is an 11/10 (GENERAL) chance and the draw is 5/2 (BETVICTOR).
Wigan are 23/20 (BETVICTOR) to see off a Bournemouth side who were hit for six by Watford last week. The Cherries though have won their last six at home in all competitions and are a 11/4 (SKYBET/boylesports) chance while the draw which has been the result in four of the last five head-to-heads is available at 13/5 (BETVICTOR).
The best bet in the Championship is backing Ipswich to get something from their visit to QPR; The Tractor Boys were unlucky to lose to Reading on the opening day of the season before running out comfortable winners over Millwall last weekend. The visitors took 17 points from their games with the top half sides last season including a win at Watford and a draw at Cardiff. The Hoops were held at Huddersfield last weekend and allowed Sheffield Wednesday chances in the opener. Ipswich can be backed at 30/29 (188 BET) with a 0.5 start on the Asian Handicap which pays out an away win or a draw.
Two anytime goalscorer bets round up the selections this weekend with James Henry a value 4/1 (bet365/BETVICTOR/ladbrokes) to score against a Huddersfield side that has conceded the third most shots in the division this season. Henry has hit more shots in the divison than any player who has yet to score with six efforts so far. Alan Judge is value at 6/1 (betfred) to score anytime as he is on set-pieces for Blackburn against a physical Doncaster team who will be hungry for their first three points.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Ipswich on the Asian Handicap v QPR, +0.5, 30/29 (188 BET)
SILVER: James Henry to score anytime v Huddersfield, 4/1 (bet365/BETVICTOR/ladbrokes)
BRONZE: Alan Judge to score anytime v Doncaster, 6/1 (betfred)
