GROUP A
MAN UNITED: Despite the relative inexperience of David Moyes at this level the players have enough knowledge and talent to come out on top of this section.
SHAKHTAR DONETSK: Donetsk are filled with a number of talented Brazilians as well as domestic players and former Arsenal striker Eduardo.
BAYER LEVERKUSEN: The German side are currently third in their domestic season behind the powerhouse duo of Munich and Dortmund and will be dangerous.
REAL SOCIEDAD: Sociedad are eighth in their domestic campaign and former Gunner Carlos Vela is their key man since the sale of Illarramendi to Real Madrid.
VERDICT: United are the deserved 5/6 (CORAL) favourites and should top the group with a little to choose between the other three who are all priced between 6/4 and 7/4 to qualify.
GROUP B
REAL MADRID: The addition of Gareth Bale, Isco and Illarramendi just added more talentto a squad packed with quality players. Should be a real joy to watch this season.
JUVENTUS: The Old Lady of Italy have added Carlos Tevez to give them the firepower they were lacking last season and look to build on a last eight finish last season.
GALATASARAY: The Turkish side are 4/1 (bet365) to qualify and they represent a dangerous away day for any side. Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder are key men.
COPENHAGEN: The Danes did once make the last 16 of this competition under Stale Solbakken but will need a miracle to get through here. VERDICT: As good as Real Madrid are Juventus are no mugs and have a sided more suited to griding out results away from home so take the 5/2 (bet365) on them to win the group.
GROUP C
PSG: The big spending French side reached the last eight last season only going out on away goals to Barcelona and will hope to go better this season having added Edinson Cavani.
BENFICA: The side from Portugal have exited in the group stages in two of the last three seasons but this time will fancy their chances of qualifying to the knockout stages.
ANDERLECHT: The Belgians came bottom of a group featuring Milan, Zenit and Malaga last season but did cause quite a few problems and should do so once more.
OLYMPIAKOS: Finished third behind Schalke and Arsenal last season in their group and currently sit top of the Greek league. Another side who will be dangerous.
VERDICT: While PSG should win Benfica do look vulnerable for that second spot after a slow start to their domestic season. Olympiakos at 4/1 (BETVICTOR/WINNER) is the pick.
GROUP D
BAYERN MUNICH: The defending champions are a class act and despite the presence of Man City should win this group with ease.
MAN CITY: A less than convincing domestic start and a poor time of things in Europé suggest that once more City could be vulnerable to an early exit.
CSKA MOSCOW: The Russian leaders will battle it out with City for the second qualifying spot which should come down to games between the pair. PLZEN: The Czech side are expected to be the whipping boys of the group though they did Milan at home last time they featured in the Champions League.
VERDICT: Bayern look good to win this group with City and CSKA battling for second.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Bayern Munich to win Group D, 6/10 (boylesports)
SILVER: Juventus to win Group Group B, 5/2 (bet365)
BRONZE: Olympiakos to qualify from Group C, 4/1 (BETVICTOR/WINNER)
