The first of the NFL triple-header Sunday night is Minnesota at Chicago (18:00,SKY) which is one of seven all divisional battles in week 2. Chicago got their season off to a good start with a 24-21 over the Bengals while the Vikings lost against Detroit. Bookmakers make Chicago 5/12 (william hill) the favourites as they look to continue a run that has seem them win of 11 last 12 head-to-heads at their own ground. Minnesota are 11/5 (WINNER) for victory while the point spread is 5.5 to 6.

The game will be won and lost for the Vikings in the quarterback era as Christian Ponder will not like his chances against a Bears defence that has forced 14 turnovers in their last five meetings. Ponder was a mess against the Lions throwing for three interceptions and a fumble and he will not enjoy playing against the Bears suffocating defence.

Just one of the last six Chicago victories in meetings between these sides has been by under six points so take the Bears to cover the spread.

The second live game (21:25,SKY) sees Denver at the New York Giants in a game dubbed the ’Manning Bowl.’ Peyton and his Broncos side do battle with Eli and his Giants side with the former expected to come out on top as he has done on their two previous battles. Denver are 1/2 (BETVICTOR/william hill/WINNER) for the victory while New York are 15/8 (SKYBET) to bounce back from an opening day defeat to Dallas.

The bet in this game comes in the anytime where Julius Thomas is 7/5 (bet365) and the Broncos Tight-End looks value as he netted two touchdowns and received for 110 yards last weekend. Thomas will fancy his chances against a Giants side that give up 36 points.

The third and final live game on Sunday night in the NFL looks to be a cracker between divisional rivals San Francisco and Seattle do battle at the Seahawks home (01:30, CHANNEL FOUR).

The Seahawks are the 8/11 (BWIN) favourites against a 49ers side that they beat 42-13 back in December which put to an end a run of four straight losses to San Francisco. The 49ers though will take heart from the fact that they have won three of their last five at Seattle. If you fancy San Francisco then you can back them at 13/10 (CORAL/betway).

This looks a cracking game to watch but one to sit out from a betting point of view.

Of the other games on Sunday I like the look of the Panthers to cover the point spread against the Bills. Carolina lost a hard fought narrow opening day contest to Seattle while Buffalo were a field goal away from defeating New England. I think one of these results was a freak and that was the Buffalo one. The Panthers are the better team and Cam Newton and his side will have much more success against the Buffalo defence than the New England one. Take Carolina to cover the three point spread at 21/20 (BETVICTOR).

The Eagles scored 26 points in the first half with new coach Chip Kelly executing an incredible 53 points against Washington. The Chargers grabbed 21 points from their first half. Bookmakers are offering 10/11 (GENERAL) that the first half has over 27.5 points when these sides meet Sunday and this also looks worth an investment.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Chicago to cover point spread against Minnesota, best available price
SILVER: Carolina to cover point spread against Buffalo -3, 21/20 (BETVICTOR)
BRONZE: Julius Thomas anytime TD v NY Giants, 7/5 (bet365)
