Premier League preview and odds: Swansea City vs Hull City

August 20 , 2016 15:00pm - Liberty Stadium

Premier League

Two teams who both got off to winning starts in their opening Premier League fixtures will go head-to-head on Saturday as Swansea City welcome Premier League newcomers Hull City to the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea City welcome pre-season relegation favourites to South Wales

Having started the season without a permanent manager and with a lack of funds to strengthen the squad, newly-promoted Hull City were naturally touted as favourites to go straight back down to the Championship. It therefore came as a bit of a surprise when they kicked off the new campaign with a 2-1 home victory over the reigning champions Leicester City.

While the Tigers certainly rode their luck at times and had to rely on some poor finishing from their opponents in that game, they were never outplayed and merited the win. Mike Phelan will now lead them out for their first away trip of the season as they make the long journey south west to face the Premier League`s only Welsh representative.

Swansea were also tipped by many to be relegation candidates after a patchy season last year, but they also got off to a good start, winning away a Burnley. However, having been drawn against two promoted teams in the first two games, they would have perhaps aimed for a six-point haul from these two games.

With the first three points in the bag, coach Francesco Guidolin will now be hopeful of fulfilling that task on home soil this weekend.

Team news

The Swans seem to have solved many of the injury issues that plagued them last season and will enjoy the luxury a having a full strength squad to choose from.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be without the services of Michael Dawson, Moses Odubajo, Harry Maguire, Alex Bruce and Allan McGregor.

Betting odds and tips

Both sides started well but the Swans have made some decent summer signings and have a full strength squad to choose from. That should just give them the edge in this game.
