Can City Pressure Chelsea With Newcastle Win?

Tomorrow`s evening kick-off sees Manchester City host Newcastle, the former looking to keep pace with the Premier League`s table toppers Chelsea. The Sky Blues could close the gap on Jose Mourinho`s men to four points should they beat Newcastle at home and the Stamford Bridge outfit lose out to Burnley. This was prior to Moussa Sissoko making sure of the Magpies` progression through to the quarter-final with a 75th minute goal.

The North East club were knocked out of the tournament at this quarter-final stage, defeated by Tottenham four goals to nil.

Despite having lost to Newcastle previously, Manchester City are the strong favourites to scoop the win and do the league double over Carver`s men. John Carver has been in charge of Newcastle since Alan Pardew left the post to take control of Crystal Palace just at the tail end of 2014.
