This Saturday lunchtime in the Championship promises to be a real treat for the neutral and a nerve wracking affair for those fans of clubs involved in the race for promotion, the battle for the play-offs or the fight to avoid the drop at the bottom. Here is our guide to the best of the bets from the last day of the season.

Hull and Watford are battling it out to join Cardiff in the Premier League with the Tigers one point better off in the standings though it is the Hornets who are showing the greater form going into the final game of the season. Hull are at home to the Champions Cardiff on the last day and are 2/5 (GENERAL) for promotion while Watford are 5/6 (GENERAL) and they entertain Leeds. Watford are 9/20 (BETVICTOR) for a final day victory against a Leeds side who have lost each of their last two games and have little to play for in mid-table. Troy Deeney meanwhile has netted three times in his last two games and is evens (CORAL) to score anytime. The game between Hull and Cardiff is a tricky one to call as it is unclear just how up for this game the Bluebirds will be having secured promotion already. As such this a game to swerve from a betting point of view.

Moving into the race for the play-offs and one of Hull/Brighton along with Watford are secured a place in the top six with the race on between four sides to occupy one of the remaining two slots. Crystal Palace are currently in fifth on 69 points though they are badly out of form with no win from their last nine and are up against a Peterborough side who have lost just one of their last 11 games. Posh are desperate for all three points and I like them here with the security of the draw in the draw no bet market at 2/1 (CORAL). Bolton are currently in sixth place and are just 3/5 (BETVICTOR) to get the three points needed to guarantee them a place in the play-offs and I think they should be able to do that against Blackpool. Chris Eagles is a class act at this level and he should be backed in the goalscorer markets where he is 11/4 (CORAL) to score at anytime. Eagles has grabbed in each of the last two Bolton games and in three of the last five home games. On the outside looking in are Leicester and Nottingham Forest and the East Midlands rivals meet in what should be a tasty looking encounter at the City Ground with Forest the 6/4 (BETVICTOR) favourites for the game.

At the other end of the table it looks bleak for Wolves and it would take a strange set of results for them to avoid their second successive relegation. The race then is on to avoid becoming the third side to go down with them and Bristol City. Barnsley are away to Huddersfield who themselves are not safe, Peterborough are at Crystal Palace and Millwall are at Derby. It is Sheffield Wednesday who look the value to me. They sit just one point above safety and yet are 12/1 (bet365/paddy Power/ladbrokes) for the drop which has to be worth a small interest. The home game with Middlesbrough is not the most demanind perhaps but nerves are a funny thing and it would not take the most radical set of results to put them in the bottom three.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Peterborough to beat Crystal Palace in draw no bet market, 2/1 (CORAL)
SILVER: Chris Eagles to score at anytime against Blackpool, 11/4 (CORAL)
BRONZE: Sheffield Wednesday to be relegated, 12/1 (bet365/paddy Power/ladbrokes).
