Even before the finals of the play-offs the end of season games have already produced their share of thrills and spills. Here is our guide to the best of the bets from the League 1 and League 2 finals that take place this weekend.

Brentford take on Yeovil Sunday with a place in the Championship at stake for the winner. Bookmakers have Brentford as the 8/11 (GENERAL) favourites to secure promotion while Yoevil are 5/4 (SPREADEX). To win the match in 90 minutes then Brentford are 13/10 (CORAL), Yeovil are 12/5 (SPREADEX/BETVICTOR) and the draw is also 12/5 (BETVICTOR).

The head-to-head record favours Yeovil who have won their last three meetings between these sides and scored three both times these sides met this season. The Glovers have just five losses from their last 24 games while Brentford lost the least amount of games in the regular season and this could be a very tight game. I think the value is with Yeovil but as indicated before I think it makes sense to keep the draw on your side so take the Glovers to win this in the draw no bet market where they can be backed at 7/5 (BETVICTOR/SPREADEX). Both teams have goalscorers with Paddy Madden netting 23 for Yeovil last season and Clayton Donaldson 18 for Brentford. Both players can be backed at 5/1 (GENERAL) to grab the first goal. I think the value in the scorer markets could be on Kevin Dawson who is 20/1 (betway) to grab the opener and 7/1 (paddy Power) to score anytime. The Yeovil midfielder has only scored three all season though these goals have came later on in the season with two of them coming in the last three games.

The day before that is the League Two play-off final between Bradford and Northampton with the Bantams the 7/5 (GENERAL) favourites and the Cobblers 23/10 (bet365/BETVICTOR) to win the game in 90 minutes. Though Northampton finished higher than Bradford in the league and have won each of their last five games I can see why bookmakers have the Bantams as the favourites. Firstly, they have already played at Wembley this season in the League Cup. Secondly, the big pitch might not suit the style of play of Northampton who do not use the wings so much as prefer the long ball. In addition a bigger pitch is unlikely to benefit Ade Akinfenwa who is not the most noble of players. Thirdly, these sides have already met five times in various competitions this season and Bradford are unbeaten in these four, winning the two league games and drawing the two cup ties. I think at 7/5 they look worth taking for victory in the 90 minutes rather than the 8/11 (GENERAL) that they just secure promotion while Northampton are 11/10 (GENERAL).

The first goalscorer market is headed by Nahki Wells as the Bradford striker has netted seven in his last eight games including three in the last two. Wells in addition has a good scoring record against Northampton scoring six times in his last five appearances against the Cobblers. The Bermudan hot-shot is as short as 9/2 (GENERAL) to score the first goal while Ade Akinfenwa is 6/1 (GENERAL) and James Hanson is 7/1 (ladbrokes/SPREADEX). Roy O’Donovan is the man in goal form for the Cobblers having netted three times in his last four appearances and he is 8/1 (GENERAL) to score the first goal.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Bradford to beat Northampton in normal time, 7/5 (GENERAL)
SILVER: Yeovil to beat Brentford, draw no bet, 7/5 (BETVICTOR/SPREADEX)
BRONZE: Kevin Dawson to score v Brentford, first, 20/1 (betway), anytime 7/1 (paddy Power).
