The Tennis continues at a fast rate as one Masters 1000 tournament ends Sunday another begins Monday. Here is our guide to the best of the bets from the ATP Internazional BNL d’Italia.
Rafael Nadal is the man bookmakers have at the head of the market for an event we shall refer to from now as the ATP Rome. Nadal is fresh from defeating Stainslas Wawrinka in the ATP Madrid final. The Spaniard is the king of this surface and is the deserved favourite though at 11/10 (paddy Power) he looks worth taking on. Firstly he is among a number of talents placed in the same half over the draw. Alongside Nadal will be Djokovic, Ferrer, Berdych, Wawrinka, Cilic and Raonic. It looks a tough route to the final for the Spaniard especially as he played the whole week in Madrid. He is no doubt the class act though so the strategy maybe to find a couple of players at each-way prices to make the final. Novak Djokovic is the second favourite at 5/2 (paddy Power/CORAL) though the Serb looks worth opposing. In addition to the tough draw worries also persist about injuries. The value then perhaps lies in taking a few players in the bottom half of the draw which is headed by Roger Federer and Andy Murray. The Swiss ace is 12/1 (SKYBET/betfred) and some might consider this value though he looked poor in Madrid. In addition Federer has never won here and not reached a final since 2006.
Another who looked poor in Madrid is Murray and it is clear that the Scot is not the same player on clay as he is on other surfaces. Those looking to back Murray can do so at 15/1 (YOU WIN). The first selection is Juan Martin Del Potro at 18/1(SKYBET). The Argentian looks on course for a quarter-final with Murray who he should be able to beat before a semi-final with Federer. Del Potro will be fresher than most after taking a break after Monte Carlo. The second selection is Richard Gasquet who is a 100/1 (boylesports/betfred ). The Frenchman has had a good start to 2013 and taken two titles on the tour. In addition he has made the semi-finals in Miami the last eight in Monte-Carlo and the fourth round in the Australian Open and Indian Wells Masters. The Frenchman reached the last eight here last year and the last four in 2011. In addition if you have the funds to add at third player to the profolio consider a little interest in Juan Monaco who is 200/1 (GENERAL) and again in the weak bottom half of the draw. Monaco is a clay court specialist who has been showing some signs of form in recent weeks.
Also taking place that week is the WTA Rome event with Serena Williams the 7/4 (SKYBET/CORAL) favourite after she crushed Maria Sharapova in the final at the Madrid Open to keep the world number one slot. It is tough to see past the American though I am unwilling to take that short a price on a player in a non major event especially as she could be up against her sister Venus in round two. The best bet could be in finding someone in the other half of the draw who will not face Serena until the final. Maria Sharapova is the obvious selection though her confidence may have taken her hit from the result in the final. Sara Errani could be the one though she has lost her last four against Sharapova.

SILVER: Richard Gasquet to win ATP Rome, EW,100/1 (boylesports/betfred)
