Some matter a little, some matter a lot, whatever the game though we have it covered in the first our first of two part guide to the best of the bets from the action in the Premier League on Saturday.

Fulham take on Reading at Craven Cottage on family fun day where kids can enter for a pound. Truth be known they might feel a little short changed as this one has none of the makings of being a classic. The home side are as short as 3/4 (BETVICTOR) for victory which is short on a side with just one point from their last five games. Reading meanwhile are available at 9/2 (boylesports/betfred/888 SPORT). The bet here is in the under 2.5 goals which is available at 6/5 (boylesports). Fulham have netted just once in their last five games and have injury worries over Dimitar Berbatov. Reading have looked more secure at the back since the arrival of Nigel Adkins keeping clean sheets in two of their last three games.

Norwich and Aston Villa will be desperate for points when they meet at Carrow Road. Villa are 2/1 (GENERAL) for victory while the Canaries are 31/20 (BETVICTOR) and the draw is 12/5 (GENERAL). I think this is a game that could have goals so look to play the anytime scorer markets. Christian Benteke is on fire at the moment but this form has allowed Gabriel Agbonlahor to slip through a little under the radar. The player has grabbed five goals in the last nine and in two of the last three. The Norwich full-backs are a little slow and the Villa man could be the one to back at a bigger price than his team-mate (11/4-888 SPORT). For the Canaries consider Elliott Bennett at 13/2 (BWIN) in the anytime scorer market. Bennett netted against Reading in the last home game and was one of the few bright sparks for Norwich at Stoke when coming off the bench.

Swansea take on Man City at the Liberty in a game between two sides that are really going through the motions at the moment. Bookmakers have City as the 3/4 (GENERAL) favourites while a Swansea victory is 17/4 (BETVICTOR) and the draw is a best priced 14/5 (STAN JAMES). This looks a tough game to call from a betting point of view as the Welsh side have not won any of their last six while it is unclear as to what City will turn up. The bet here is in the under 2.5 goals market which has occured in six of the last seven games Swansea have played against the top six in all competitions and is priced at evens (BETVICTOR/william hill/188 BET).

Totteham take on Southampton knowing they need to wrap up all three points to keep up the chase for the Champions League. The London side are the 1/2 (BETVICTOR/YOU WIN) favourites to win the game which is expected but a little short for my liking. You can enhance this by taking the 11/8 (betfred) that Tottenham win this game and Gareth Bale scores at anytime. The Footballer of the Year (from both the writers and the players) has netted in the last three successive games and he will fancy his chances against a Southampton defence that leaked three against West Brom.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Tottenham to beat Southampton, Bale to Score anytime, 11/8 (betfred)
SILVER: Under 2.5 goals between Fulham and Reading, 6/5 (BOYLESPORTS)
BRONZE: Gabriel Agbonlahor to score anytime v Norwich, 11/4 (888 SPORT)
