Tiote to be booked the value in Monday night Football

After Man United and Chelsea both made statements in their opening game it is up to Man City to show us what they are made of as Monday night Football returns.

Bookmakers have Man City as short as 1/3 (GENERAL) which is understandable as they have won 11 and lost none of their last 13 Premier League home games. Newcastle meanwhile have won just two of their last 20 games away from home. City also are dominant in the head-to-head record winning each of the last seven league meetings including a 4-0 victory last time these sides met at the Etihad.

If you think Newcastle can catch Man City cold then you can back them at 11/1 (SPREADEX) while the draw is available at 47/10 (888 SPORT/unibet) thought it would take a brave man to get involved at those prices.

Yaya Toure is a player who will welcome the visit of Newcastle as he has scored three times in his last three appearances against the Magpies and he is 13/5 (SPREADEX) to score at anytime. Sergio Aguero (SKYBET/CORAL) and Alvaro Negredo (SKYBET/CORAL) are both evens to score at anytime in the game while Dzeko is a 5/4 (SKYBET/BETVICTOR/CORAL) chance. It is tough to know which player will start so it might make sense to hold these bets until you see the team selection.

Those looking for a Newcastle scorer will see that Papiss Cisse is a 4/1 (SKYBET/BETVICTOR) chance to score at anytime and he will have been boosted by a shaky looking defence who conceded five to Arsenal in pre-season. That being said though City had the best defensive record in the Premier League last season conceding just 34 goals and keeping 18 clean sheets while Newcastle havescored just eight goals in their last 13 top flight games against City. The best value bet is Cheikh Tiote to be shown a card during the game which is available at 2/1 (BETVICTOR). The Ivory Coast midfielder was booked seven times and sent-off once from just 24 appearances last season and could have a busy time with the tricky players that Man City have.

Another bet that might be worth taking is in the assist market where Jesus Navas is 9/4 (boylesports) to assist anytime. The Spaniard created more chances from open play than any other player in La Liga last season and looks worth an interest here.

Before we end our preview here is a early recommendation of a bet for the games next weekend where Aston Villa look over-priced to get something from the game with Liverpool on Saturday (August 24th). Villa looked impressive against Arsenal and they should be full of confidence if they beat the Gunners that they can beat the Merseysiders. Bookmakers are going 3/1 (boylesports/STAN JAMES/YOU WIN) and this price could come in if they get something from Chelsea in midweek. The best way to play this is to get the draw on side and Villa +0.5 on the Asian Handicap is available at 66/67 (188 BET).

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Aston Villa +0.5 on Asian Handicap, 66/67 v Liverpool (188 BET)
SILVER: Cheikh Tiote to be booked at anytime, 2/1 (BETVICTOR)
BRONZE: Jesus Navas in the anytime assist market, 9/4 (BOYLESPORTS)
