Premier League preview and odds: Swansea City vs Watford

October 22, 2016 15:00pm - Liberty Stadium

Premier League

Swansea City will be hoping to put the brakes on a seven-game winless run this weekend when they host middle-of-the-road Watford at the Liberty Stadium in the English Premier League.

Swansea City looking for boost from new boss

New Swansea City boss Bob Bradley could not have chosen a tougher game to start his EPL coaching career, having to pit his wits against the league`s most in-form team away from home. But despite the enormity of last weekend`s task, his side put in a spirited performance to push Arsenal all the way in a pulsating 3-2 defeat.

While the Swans did not take any points form the game, there were a few positive signs for their fans to cling on to - perhaps most notably, a first goal for Spanish striker Borja Baston. The former Atletico Madrid man has had a slow start to his career in England thanks to some injury issues but now looks to be close to full fitness.

Having had some more time to work with his team, Bradley will now have the opportunity to make an impact on home soil when Premier League second-termers Watford make the trip West on Saturday.

The Hornets had a poor start to the new campaign under the guidance of new coach Walter Mazzarri but have slowly improved and are now sat comfortably in 10th place in the table with a total of 11 points. They have been beaten just once in their last five fixtures and come into this game on the back of 1-0 win away to newly-promoted Middlesbrough.

In what is their second season back in the top flight, the Hertfordshire club will now be keen to further consolidate their position amongst England`s elite.

Team news

Nampalys Mendy and Matthew James are both still missing for the home side.

Meanwhile, Palace will be without Jonathan Benteke, Scott Dann, Pape Souare and Loic Remy.

Recent form (League)

Hull City: LLLLD

Stoke City: WDDLL

Betting odds and tips

Swansea City have yet to keep a clean sheet at home, so Bradley will be looking to sure up a defence that has looked considerably weaker since the departure of Ashley Williams.

Watford already have two away wins under their belt this term but will still start this game as slight underdogs.

A close match can be expected and the draw is certainly tempting - but as an alternative, Borja Baston looks like a decent bet in the anytime goal scorer market.

You can back Borja Baston to score anytime at 8/5 with Bet365.
