Premier League

Sam Allardyce likes to mix things up with formations and he might be preparing a unique 8-1-1 formation in order to deal with the threat of Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan was world class on Wednesday night when he hit Norwich for four. With Suarez in such form and the Reds having won each of their last four at Anfield it is hard to see past a Liverpool victory though 3/10 (BETVICTOR/paddy Power/ YOU WIN) does not interest me. West Ham were poor on their visit to Crystal Palace and you dread to think what Suarez will do to James Collins. The Hammers managed to shut out Liverpool last season at Anfield and they are 5/1 (GENERAL) for an unlikely point and 11/1 (WINNER) for all three. I talked about the dominance of Suarez before and he is as short as 8/13 (CORAL) to net at anytime while Glen Johnson has three in his last four games against the Hammers and he can be backed at 9/1 (SPREADEX). For West Ham Carlton Cole is a 19/4 (888 SPORT/unibet) chance and Joe Cole is 9/1 (888 SPORT/unibet) to score against his old side.

The bet I really like though is the evens (GENERAL) on both teams to net in this game. The Reds have kept a clean sheet in just two of their last nine games and have shipped seven in their last three games. It is true West Ham are poor in front of goal though so too are Norwich and they managed to score against the Merseysiders.

After a strong start to the season Southampton have lost each of their last three and will not welcome the visit of a Man City team who have won their last four in all competitions, netting 16 goals in those four games.

The Saints have given a good account of themselves in recent defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea, and they will carry some hope that they can repeat the feat of last season when they saw off Man City 3-1 at their own ground. This is a different City though and the win in midweek at West Brom is a weight off their mind after some poor away shows this season. I think City will win this though odds of 3/4 (GENERAL) do not encourage a bet. The Saints can be backed at 4/1 (GENERAL) while the draw is available at 29/10 (BETVICTOR).

Man City have been winning at both half time and full time in five of their last seven matches in the Premier League and this is the way to play this game at odds of 9/5 (BETVICTOR/STAN JAMES/SPREADEX). In addition in recent games with Stoke, Villa, Man United and Arsenal the Saints were 1-0 down within the first 26 minutes of the game.

Jose Mourinho called the away performance against Sunderland the best in his time since returning as boss of Chelsea and it should be same again for the Blues when they face Stoke at the Britannia on Saturday.

Chelsea have won ten of their last 13 in all competitions and will fancy their chances against a Stoke side with one win in their last ten. The Potters have drawn four of their last six at home, they have also held Chelsea on two of their last three visits to the Britannia. The draw can be backed here at 3/1 (BETVICTOR) while a Stoke victory is 11/2 (BETVICTOR/WINNER).

The bet here is a speculative play on the 8/1 (BWIN) are offering on Oussama Assaidi to score in this game. The player has yet to find the net in the Premier League though did score in the League Cup. It is a good price on a player who plays in one of the forward slots for Stoke and registered a couple of shots on target in midweek.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Man City HT/FT v Southampton, 9/5 (BETVICTOR/STAN JAMES/SPREADEX)
SILVER: YES in both teams to score Liverpool v West Ham, evens (GENERAL)
BRONZE: Oussama Assaidi to score anytime v Stoke, 8/1 (BWIN)
