In our second part of our preview of the Saturday action in the Premier League we look at the games from Goodison Park and Carrow Road and recommend the best of the bets.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez will be happy with the start to the season his side have made though he will be urging his side to turn some of these draws (a joint league high of six) into wins. This game represent a perfect opportunity against a Stoke side who have failed to win in 31 of their last 34 away matches in the Premier league. That being said the amount of draws, including at home to Palace, suggests the Toffees can not be trusted at 8/13 (GENERAL).
Stoke got a much needed win against Sunderland last week though were helped by the controversial sending-off of Wes Brown. The Potters are proving difficult to break down with their only loss in the last six coming at Old Trafford where they lead twice. If you think Stoke can get something then they are 11/2 (sportingbet/SPREADEX) though the draw is the more likely result at 3/1 (GENERAL). Romelu Lukaku netted twice for Everton against Liverpool in their last game and he is 13/8 (bet365) to score at anytime while for Stoke Charlie Adam has netted in the last two and he is 6/1 (GENERAL) to score at Goodison Park.
The best bet in this game comes in the time of the first goal market where I think it will come after the 26th minute. Odds of 21/20 (BETVICTOR) look worth taking as this bet would have paid in eight of the 12 games Stoke have played in the Premier League this season and in three of the last four Everton games.
Crystal Palace fans had to wait a long time for it but they have got a new manager in charge and in Tony Pulis they certainly have a boss capable of keeping them up. Pulis is an expert in getting teams disciplined and organized and the signs are from the last few games that Palace are capable of doing this. The Eagles have taken four points from their last two matches including their first away win of the season at Hull last weekend. I think they look excellent value to get something from their trip to Carrow Road on Saturday (3pm). The Canaries have been awful in recent weeks and the game is reminiscent of the one against West Ham a few weeks ago that saved Chris Hughton his job. It can be forgotten in the 3-1 result that Norwich were awful for the best part of an hour before West Ham keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen gifted them a penalty. Against Newcastle last week Norwich were poor but for a brief ten minute period at the end. The injuries to Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Anthony Pilkington, Robert Snodgrass and Alexander Tettey has pulled the spine from the team. The first three are an important of the attacking game while the latter sits in front of the defence and allows Howson and Fer to get forward. It makes sense then to side with Palace to get something and they can be backed at evens (paddy Power) with a 0.5 start on the Asian Handicap which will pay out on victory for Palace and the game ending in a draw.
I spoke before about all the forward players out for Norwich and it might be worth siding with Palace to keep a clean sheet in this game at odds of 15/4 (betway). The Eagles have kept out Everton and Hull in their last two games while the Canaries have failed to find the net in two of their last four home games.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Crystal Palace +0.5 on the Asian Handicap v Norwich, evens (paddy Power)
SILVER: Crystal Palace to keep clean sheet v Norwich, 15/4 (betway)
BRONZE: First goal in Everton v Stoke game to come after 26th min, 21/20 (BETVICTOR)
