Bayern Munich are now the 11/4 (ladbrokes/william hill) favourites for the Champions League last 16. The German side have not been handed an easy draw though as they will face Arsenal once more. Munich are 2/7 (CORAL) to qualify while you can get 15/4 (BWIN) that the English side come through the two legged encounter.

Real Madrid are the 19/4 (BWIN) second favourites and the Spanish side have been handed one of the easier encounters in the last 16 and are as short as 1/6 (boylesports) to see off Schalke who are 13/2 (CORAL/william hill) to spring the shock.

Barcelona are the 11/2 (GENERAL) third favourites though they too have a difficult draw against Man City. The English side are 15/8 (GENERAL) to qualify while the Spanish side are 1/2 (888 SPORT/CORAL). Take the 15/8 (bet365) on City winning the home leg as they have already blown away a number of good teams in front of their own fans this season.

Chelsea are the 14/1 (GENERAL) fifth favourites and the English side will face galatasaray in the last 16. The Turkish side have the familar name of Didier Drogba leading the line and it is 2/7 (boylesports) the English side qualify and 7/2 (william hill) galatasaray. Atletico Madrid are 16/1 (BETVICTOR/STAN JAMES/ladbrokes) joint sixth favourites and the Spanish side are as short as 4/9 (BETVICTOR) to qualify for the next round. Their opponents Milan meanwhile can be backed at 11/4 (william hill) to progress through. Also available at this price are Borussia Dortmund (CORAL) who are 1/4 (paddy Power) to see off Zenit while the Russian side are as big as 9/2 (WILLIAM HILL) to progress.

PSG are also 16/1 (YOU WIN) and they are 4/11 (bet365/boylesports/WINNER) to progress through while Leverkusen can be backed at 10/3 (CORAL). I could make a case for backing each of Atletico, Dortmund and PSG for the Champions League at these prices as all three have winnable games to make the last eight while some of the favourites have difficult matches. Those looking to limit themselves to just one should go for PSG as the French side were in dominant form in the group and should have far too much for a Levekusen side who were beaten 5-0 by Man United. Take the 13/2 (SKYBET/WINNER) on PSG to make the final also as YOU WIN do not offer each-way.

Speaking of the Red Devils they are also 16/1 (GENERAL) following a draw against Olympiakos though the Greek side could be dangerous if star man Konstantinos Mitroglou is back and firing in the goals. It is 1/4 (bet365) that United progress while the Greek side are as big as 4/1 (TOTESPORT/betfred) which I could not put anyone off.

Also drawn this afternoon (Monday 16th) was the Europa League which has 32 sides remaining. Champions League fallouts Juventus are the 9/2 (GENERAL) favourites and have been drawn to face Trabzonspor before a match with either Esjberg or Fiorentina. Swanea have been handed a tough task with a last 32 clash with second favourites Napoli. Tottenham who are the 8/1 (888 SPORT/CORAL/unibet) second favourites have been drawn against Dnipro who are managed by former boss Juande Ramos.

The headline selection though are Ajax at each-way odds of 33/1 (bet365) as they were unlucky in the CL group stages. The Dutch side face Red Bull Salzburg before a potential last 16 clash with either Maccabi Tel Aviv or Basel, all of which look winnable.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Man City to beat Barcelona at the Etihad, 15/8 (BET365)
SILVER: PSG to win Champons League, 16/1 (YOU WIN) PSG to make Champions League final, 13/2 (SKYBET/WINNER)
BRONZE: Ajax to win the Europa League, EW, 33/1 (BET365)
