Premier League

Just ten seasons ago Swansea and Hull were meeting in League Two and now on Monday night (20:00, SKY SPORTS) these sides will do battle in a Premier League encounter.

Bookmakers make Swansea the 3/4 (GENERAL) favourites for the game as they look to build on a 3-0 home victory over Newcastle last time out. The win put an end to a run of four home games without a victory for the Welsh side. Although I think Swansea are the most likely to win this game I would not want to be siding with them at this price considering in the two games before that they had dropped points at home to West Ham and Stoke.

Hull are doing well under Steve Bruce with an impressive 17 points so far this season and the Tigers are 9/2 (GENERAL) as they seek a first away win since 21st September in the top flight and only their second in their last 32 Premier League away games. Hull though have beaten Liverpool recently so are capable of producing a performance and the head-to-head record does favour them (winning three and losing none of their last four meetings)

Those looking to back the draw meanwhile can do so at odds of 11/4 (GENERAL) and this has been the resilt in three of the last five Swansea home games. In general though I think bookmakers have the amtch amrkets correct so I will look elsewhere for value.

A bet I like the look of is Jonjo Shelvey EW at 10/1 (SKYBET) to net the first goal. The Swansea midfielder has being playing an advanced role with the injuries to Michu and Wilfried Bony and now has two in his last three games in the Premier League. Those looking for a Hull scorer meanwhile can get Yannick Sagbo at 4/1 (BETVICTOR/SPREADEX) to score anytime and the forward has netted the last two Hull Premier League away goals.

When these sides met back in League Two all those years ago Leon Britton featured and if the Swansea midfield plays here I could see a sentimental vote for him being man of the match. The midfield is available at odds of 25/1 (betfred) and this has to be worth a small interest as Britton is often the man who keeps Swansea ticking along in the middle of the pitch.

Also on Monday night BT SPORT are showing the FA Cup Second Round clash between Wrexham and Oxford (19:45) from the Racecourse Ground.

The winner of this tie will face an away trip to the Valley to take on Championship side Charlton. Bookmakers are struggling to split the pair with the Welsh side marginal favourites for the game at odds of 13/8 (betfred). The Dragons are unbeaten in their last five home games and have won each of the last four. They will fancy their chances against an Oxford side who have won just three of their last 15 FA Cup away games.

Oxford though did win at Gateshead in the First Round although they needed extra time and a replay to do so. As such odds of 2/1 (BETVICTOR) do not appeal despite the fact the U’s are unbeaten in their last nine games in all competitions.

The League Two side might have to rest a number of players for the game having also played on Thursday night so the draw might not be out of the question at odds of 12/5 (GENERAL). The bet I like most though is the anytime scorer chances of Andy Bishop in this game at 9/4 (ladbrokes/betway). The Wrexham front man has five goals in his last two games and he will fancy his chances against an Oxford back line that has shipped in seven of their 11 away games so far this season.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Jonjo Shelvey first goalscorer v Hull, EW, 10/1 (SKYBET)
SILVER: Andy Bishop to score anytime v Oxford, 9/4 (ladbrokes/betway)
BRONZE: Leon Britton man of the match v Hull, 25/1 (betfred)
