Wolves and Leyton Orient are starting to open up a gap at the top of the table with the Midlands side one point clear from the London team who are in turn eight points clear of third placed Preston.
Peterborough can do themselves and the rest of the league a favour if they beat Wolves at London Road this weekend. Posh are 9/5 (bet365/BETVICTOR) for victory as they look to put behind them a run of three straight defeats. Wolves have not lost in the league since September 17th and they are 17/10 (william hill) for victory while the draw can be backed at 5/2 (bet365/BETVICTOR).
Orient meanwhile are at home to Sheffield United and they are 19/20 (BETVICTOR/william hill) to take all three points. The Blades can take heart from the fact that Preston won at the Matchroom Stadium last time Orient played here. United are also showing signs of improvement under new boss Nigel Clough losing just two of his six games in his charge and have won at Bristol City and Gillingham (in the FA Cup) in recent weeks. Chris Porter has scored three times in his last four games for United and has to be backed at 7/2 (betfred) to score at anytime against an Orient side without a clean sheet in six games.
I suggested last weekend that there is value in taking on Rotherham at home at short prices and this was shown by Carlisle doing the business for us and getting a draw. I think Gillingham can repeat the feat when they go to the New York Stadium on Saturday. Rotherham had an excellent 3-0 victory at Coventry on Tuesday though it is at home where they having problems. The Millers have now gone five games without a home win in League One and Gillingham look worth siding with on the Asian Handicap at 11/10 (bet365) with a 0.75 start. The Kent side are making under the radar progress with three wins from their last four league games including a victory at Bramall Lane. This bet will pay out full on a Gillingham win, the draw and as a half loss if the Millers win by one goal. Gillingham have lost by more than one goal just two times these season.
There is little doubt about the game of the day in League Two and that is the one that sees fifth placed Fleetwood at home to league leaders Oxford. Fleetwood are the 11/10 (GENERAL) favourites for the game as they have won each of their last three home games in all competitions. Oxford though are no mugs away from home going seven games unbeaten on their travels (winning five of these). The visitors can be backed at 14/5 (bet365/BETVICTOR) while the draw is on offer at 13/5 (BET365).
The best bet in this division is in taking Accrington to get something from their visit to the Sixfields Stadium. Hosts Northampton are bottom of the table and have just one victory from their last eight league games. Stanley though are in great form with no defeats from their last eight games in League Two. Accrington have won five of their last six in the division and look great value at 6/4 (SKYBET) in the draw no bet market.
Staying with this game and it also worth a little interest that Kayode Odaji finds the net once more for Accrington. The Nigerian has four goals in his last eight league games and two in his last three and is 5/2 (betfred) to net anytime in this game.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Accrington Stanley draw no bet v Northampton, 6/4 (SKYBET)
SILVER: Gillingham +0.75 on Asian Handicap v Rotherham, 11/10 (BET365)
BRONZE: Chris Porter to score anytime v Leyton Orient, 7/2 (betfred)
