New Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen will have been pleased with the effort of his players against Tottenham on Wednesday night even if the result will have disappointed. The Dutchman will hope for a repeat performance against Aston Villa on Sunday (13:30, SKY SPORTS) in the first part of the Super Sunday double-header.
Aston Villa enter the game with the third best away record in the Premier League and are unbeaten in their last five games. Villa won 3-2 at Southampton in midweek and looked great going forward (although shakey at the back). You can back the Villians at 9/5 (bet365/william hill) while the draw is available at 12/5 (STAN JAMES).
Fulham have lost each of their last six league games and I would not be rushing to back the, at 7/4 (GENERAL) even if the London side have lost just one of their last six meeting between the pair and none of the last three at Craven Cottage.
Gabriel Agbonlahor was excellent in midweek and is 8/1 (ladbrokes) to score first while Libor Kozak who also scored on Wednesday is 7/1 (GENERAL) to get the opener. You would fancy Villa to net first as Fulham have gone behind in 11 games this season which is more than any other side in the top flight.
Those looking for a Fulham player might be interested in an anytime scorer bet on Dimitar Berbatov who produced one of his better games in midweek and is 21/10 (bet365) to score while former Villa front man Darren Bent is available at 9/4 (bet365). In a tough looking game to predict I will recommend a little interest in the Man of the Match market that BETVICTOR are running. Scott Parker led by example in midweek for the Whites and at 12/1 looks worth a little interest.
The second half of the double-header comes from the Emirates (16:00, SKY SPORTS) and looks to be a cracker as the leaders Arsenal entertain fifth placed Everton. Arsenal are the 8/11 (BETVICTOR/paddy Power/william hill) favourites for the game as they look to continue a run of 15 home games undefeated against Everton. The Gunners are also in fine form having won six of their last seven (including each of their last four) and each of their last six at home in the Premier League.
Everton will be full of confidence though having taken all three points at Old Trafford this season and with just one Premier League defeat to their name all season. Under Roberto Martinez the Merseysiders have struck a fine balance between defence and attack and I think they represent a tough challenge to the league leaders. I think Arsenal have had a wonderful start yet at these prices it is worth an interest in the Merseysiders at odds of 5/4 (888 SPORT/SPREADEX/unibet) when combined with the draw in the double chance market.
Although both sides possess talented goalscorers, both sides are also well coached and have strong midfields and as such I think this game is less likely to have goals than the bookmakers do. You can get 8/7 (888 SPORT/unibet) that this game has under 2.5 goals and this looks decent value. Five of the last six Arsenal games have gone under 2.5 goals in the Premier League while the last three Everton away games in the league have gone under. Throw in the fact last four meetings between these sides have gone under and this looks a nice bet.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Draw/Everton double chance v Arsenal, 5/4 (888 SPORT/SPREADEX/unibet)
SILVER: Under 2,5 goals between Arsenal and Everton, 8/7 (888 SPORT/unibet)
BRONZE: Scott Parker man of the match Fulham v Aston Villa, 12/1 (BETVICTOR)
