#MOYESOUT was the first thing I tweeted last week after hearing Man United had lost a friendly to a Thailand All Stars. I was joking, sadly some people on Twitter were not. It turns out a pre-season loss to Thailand All Stars has a few keyboard managers panicking. People should relax pre-season is a little like Vegas as in what happens there stays there.
United should get back to winning ways on Saturday morning in Sydney when they take on the A League All Stars. The All Stars are missing a number of foreign players such as Alessandro Del Piero, Shinji Ono and our very own Emile Heskey. United will fancy their chances then especially as key first team players Robin van Persie and David de Gea should feature.
The Red Devils are 3/10 (BWIN/betway) for victory while the draw is 9/2 (paddy Power) and the A League All Stars are 8/1 (bet365/BETVICTOR). I like the look of United to get things back on track especially in conditions that should be much cooler and far more suitable than the oppressive heat in Bangok. I expect goals in this game as United will look to boost morale while the opposition will take advantage of a few of the weaknesses at the back for United. The best bet in this game then might be taking the 11/10 (paddy Power/YOU WIN) that the game has over 3.5 goals.
ESPN will be showing an Indonesia XI against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon with the English side the strong 3/20 (betway) favourites while the draw is 25/4 (BWIN) and Indonesia XI are 14/1 (william hill).
Those looking for a bet on this game might want to consider the 4/1 (william hill) on Fabio Borini to score the opener. The Italian will be eager to impress with Suarez out for the start of the season and Sturridge a doubt. He started against Preston and could take advantage here with the opening goal.
Mainz take on West Ham in a pre-season friendly in a battle between two sides who had solid mid-table finishes last season. The Hammers were a respectable 10th in England while the Germans were 13th in the Bundesliga.
I think West Ham must be considered some value at 23/10 (SKYBET) while the draw is available at 5/2 (GENERAL) and a Mainz victory is evens (paddy power/betway). Perhaps back the English side in the draw no bet market at 13/10 (YOU WIN).
On Sunday a Malaysia XI will take on Chelsea with the English side the 2/13 (BWIN/BETWAY) favourites while the draw is 11/2 (WILLIAM HILL/BETWAY) and a Malaysia victory is 23/2 (BWIN). I would expect Chelsea to win this game though would not want to side with them at this price.
Also on Sunday Bournemouth take on Real Madrid in a lucrative friendly and I think it might be worth a little interest on the 12/1 (WILLIAM HILL) on Mohamad Coulibaly to score. The Cherries forward will be hungry to impress after his move in the summer from Swiss side Grasshoppers Zurich and his pace could cause Madrid some problems.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: West Ham in draw no bet market v Mainz, 13/10 (YOU WIN)
SILVER: Over 3.5 goals Man U v A League All Stars, 11/10 (paddy power/YOU WIN)
BRONZE: Mohamad Coulibaly to score anytime v Real Madrid, 12/1 (WILLIAM HILL)
