Just a night before Valentines Day what could say romance more than a night of top darting action and a ticket for week two of the Premier League which this time is in Bournemouth.

The evening gets underway (19:10) with a clash between Raymond van Barenveld and Wes Newton. Barney was in excellent form in the opening week averaging 108.52 and hitting six 180s en route to a 7-2 victory over Gary Anderson. The Dutchman is the 3/5 (boylesports) favourite to win this battle. The problem is that a week is a long time in the world of Barney and too often he has gone from red hot to freezing cold. Newton is 10/3 (sportingbet) victory though he was poor in his 7-3 loss to Peter Wright. I will instead recommend siding with van Barneveld in the most 180s market at 11/10 (SKYBET.

The second game of the evening (20:00) sees Dave Chisnall take on Peter Wright with the latter the evens (GENERAL) favourite. Snakebite opened his season with a 7-3 victory over Newton while Chisnall also started with an opening day success seeing off Robert Thornton. Chizzy leads the head-to-head record 4-2 and can be backed at 2/1 (GENERAL) while the draw is a 4/1 (GENERAL) chance. This looks a tough game to call and with many better bets on the night I will recommend giving this game a miss.

Gary Anderson was our tip to make the last four of the Premier League though he ran into an in-form Raymond van Barneveld last week. I still like the Scotsman and think at 6/5 (GENERAL) he looks worth an interest to see off Simon Whitlock. The Australian looked badly out of sorts in his opener losing 7-1 to Adrian Lewis. Anderson threw over 100 in posting the third highest score of the night and if he keeps that form should have enough to see off the Wizard. Add to the mix the fact Anderson won all three meetings between the pair and the 6/5 on offer looks the bet of the evening.

No doubt about the game of the night and that is the one between Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis. Taylor threw a 99.45 average last week but ran into a rampant van Gerwen. The Power can take solace from a win in a Players event at the weekend in which he beat Lewis in the final. In fact Jackpot has a poor record against his former mentor in recent times and Taylor has not lost a televised meeting between the pair since 2012 and leads the overall head-to-head record between the pair 44-10. Odds of 6/5 (STAN JAMES/william hill/BWIN) seem hard to ignore when you consider the record between the pair.

The final game of the evening sees Robert Thornton take on Michael van Gerwen. These two players were at opposite ends of the form spectrum last week as Thorn produced the second lowest three dart average in losing to Dave Chisnall. Mighty Mike was incredible in hammering Phil Taylor 7-0 and producing a 109.59 three dart average. I imagine quite a few people will be tempted to take the Dutchman at 28/1 (bet365/STAN JAMES) to win 7-0. A better bet is to take van Gerwen to cover 2.5 handicap margin at odds of 11/13 with BWIN.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Gary Anderson to beat Simon Whitlock, 6/5 (GENERAL)
SILVER: Phil Taylor to beat Adrian Lewis, 6/5 (STAN JAMES/W.HILL/BWIN)
BRONZE: Michael van Gerwen -2.5 on handicap, 11/13 (BWIN) VALUE: Raymond van Barneveld most 180s v Wes Newton, 11/10 (SKYBET)
