No doubt about the game of the weekend in League One and that is the one between fourth placed Preston and third placed Leyton Orient at Deepdale. The Lillywhites have already beaten Orient at their own ground this season and are 11/10 (GENERAL) for victory here as they look to continue a run of just two defeats from their last 18 games in the league with these defeats coming against Wolves and Brentford. The London side have lost each of their last three and are 11/4 (bet365/CORAL/william hill) to get a much needed victory while the game to end all square is a 5/2 (bet365/TOTESPORT) chance. A big reason Orient have started slipping down the table is they have began shipping goals leaking seven in their last three games and Joe Garner looks much too big at 6/4 (bet365) to net anytime as the North End frontman has 16 goals this season including three in his last three.
Table toppers Brentford are away to Crewe and as crazy as it sounds I think the home side can get something from the game. The Bees are unbeaten in their last 18 games in the league though away from home they have drawn their last two at Shrewsbury and Walsall. Crewe will be hurting from a 5-0 defeat to the London side in November and have now won four of their last six games at home. The Railwaymen have had a tough season on and off the pitch and with the rape charges that has caused them problems being dropped they have started to see improved results. I think they look worth siding with at 23/20 (bet365) on the Asian Handicap with a 0.5 start which pays out on a Crewe win or the draw.
Into League Two and it is Chesterfield who are top of the table and they will be a popular addition to the accumulators at home to struggling Torquay and they can be backed at 4/7 (BET365/BETVICTOR/william hill) for the victory.
Second placed Scunthorpe are in action Friday night while third placed Oxford are 23/20 (BET365/BETVICTOR/WILLIAM HILL) to see off Mansfield. This might be a popular bet if you look at the places in the table though Mansfield are unbeaten in their last four away games while Oxford have only won six of their 19 home games this season.
Rochdale are another side going well though rather than the 3/4 (william hill) on them to win the game I would rather be on the 7/4 (BET365) that Scott Hogan scores anytime following his hat-trick last weekend. The man who I like to call ’Hulk’ has 15 for the season and five from his last seven games at home.
The best bet in the division comes from the game between Fleetwood and Northampton where again I like the look of the visitors to get a shock result. Chris Wilder had his Oxford side better away than at home and it looks like the Cobblers are following a similar pattern going four games unbeaten on their travels. Fleetwood meanwhile have won just three of their last eight at home in all competitions so take the 17/14 (BETVICTOR) Northampton with a 0.5 start on the Asian Handicap.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Northampton +0.5 on Asian Handicap v Fleetwood, 17/14 (BETVICTOR)
SILVER: Crewe + 0.5 on Asian Handicap v Brentford, 23/20 (BET365)
BRONZE: Joel Garner to score anytime v Leyton Orient, 6/4 (BET365)
VALUE: Scott Hogan to score anytime v Mansfield, 7/4 (BET365)
