Tottenham will look to go level on points with Southampton today, the Hampshire side sitting in the Europa League position but with a massively superior goal difference and a game in hand. Spurs host West Ham United in this morning`s 12:00 kick-off, a defeat for the Whites allowing the Hammers to move to within one point of them and potentially giving Liverpool licence to usurp them with a victory over the Saints this afternoon.
West Ham would remain in eighth should they lose at White Hart Lane though Sam Allardyce`s side would be just one point better off than ninth placed Swansea and two to the good of Stoke in 10th.
The two London sides met in their opening game of the season at United`s Boleyn Ground. The match remained goalless until the 90th minute when Mauricio Pochettino`s visitors managed to claim all three points through full-back Erik Dier. The game was also notable for both Kyle Naughton and James Collins receiving red cards and Mark noble missing a penalty for the Iron.
Should you think that Tottenham will do the double over West Ham, they can be backed at the best price of 5/6 (betfred, ladbrokes, paddy Power, Totesport). Alternatively, a second 1-0 victory for Spurs is available at 17/2 with bet365 and william hill. Dier is 33/1 (paddy Power) to break the deadlock once again whilst the price is 5/2 (Skybet) should you think that a penalty will be awarded in the reverse fixture or 3/1 (32red, 888sport, unibet, william hill) should you think there will be a sending off today.
Allardyce`s men can be picked up at 19/5 with a trio of bookmakers (betfair, sportingbet, William Hill) whilst it is 3/1 (boylesports, Skybet) for the game being tied at the end of the 90 minutes.
Spurs have not lost at home in the Premier League since their 2-1 defeat to Stoke City back in the first week of November. That is a total of seven games without a loss at White Hart Lane, or five wins and two draws.
The Whites have scored 13 goals and conceded only seven in these clashes though have kept only two clean sheets, both of these coming in their goalless draws with Crystal Palace and Manchester United. Coral`s 2/1 says that Hugo Lloris will keep a clean sheet in the Spurs` goal whilst the same bookmaker is offering 13/5 on the team winning to nil.
Tottenham`s 13 goals from their seven unbeaten home matches equates to just under two goals a match. It`s 5/2 with Betvictor should you think Pochettino`s men will score exactly two today or 8/11 (ladbrokes) should you think they can score over 1.5 goals.
The most frequent goalscorer in these seven matches has been top scorer for the season Harry Kane. The 21-year-old has racked up five goals with a brace against Chelsea and another against North London rivals Arsenal. Whilst the Englishman is 11/10 (Sportswinner, Titanbet) to hit the back of the net at any time, he is 11/2 (unibet) to score two or more goals in the match for the fifth time this season.
West Ham have failed to win any of their last five Premier League matches away from home and will be looking to recover from a 4-0 FA Cup defeat at the hands of West Brom at the Hawthorns. Big Sam`s side have only managed to pick up three points and score three goals from these games.
As a result, the Hammers are 11/5 (32red, 888sport, betfred, unibet) to score over 1.5 times in this morning`s encounter.
