Granada v Real Sociedad - Match preview and odds

Tuesday, September 22 21:00pm - Nuevo Los Carmenes

La Liga

The late kick-off in Spain on Tuesday night will take place in Andalucia as Granada take on Real Sociedad at Nuevo Los Carmenes.

The season starts now

Both teams have had relatively poor starts to the season although Granada’s three-point haul is probably closer to par than Real’s total of two.

Ramon Sandoval’s team earned all of their points in the away win at Getafe but they would have been pleased with their performance at the weekend when they restricted Rafa Benitez’ Real Madrid to a 1-0 victory at the Bernabeu.

Meanwhile, David Moyes’ side have had a poor start by their standards having failed to secure a win in any of their opening games. Having played newly-promoted Real Betis and Sporting Gijon as well as Deportivo La Coruna and Espanyol, the Basque side would have expected to have accumulated more than the two points that they currently have.

With the local derby against Athletic Bilbao coming this weekend, this could be a season-defining week for the Scottish Coach.

Both teams will be viewing this game as an opportunity to kick-start their seasons. The last meeting between the teams ended in a 1-1 stalemate thanks to a duo of penalty kicks courtesy of Fran Rico and Carlos Vela.

Team news

Granada will be without the injured Diego Mainz and Ruben Perez while Joseba Zaldua and Raul Navas are both doubts for the visitors.

La Real goalkeeper Rulli will be suspended for this clash (subject to appeal) and first-choice back-up Oier Olazabal is unable to face his parent club due to the financial terms of the loan, so third-choice shot-stopper Ander Bardaji may take his place between the sticks. This could play into the hands of Granada, who have looked much better in the offensive department so far this season.

Betting odds and tips

Granada have scored in three out of four games this season and have created plenty of other chances. Meanwhile, David Moyes’ team have failed to score in three out of their four games and will be playing with a rookie in goal.

El Graná put in probably their best performance of the season so far when they were narrowly beaten by Real Madrid at the weekend, while Real Sociedad looked very one dimensional as they crumbled at home to Espanyol.

Granada will be favourites, but only just, and they can be backed at 6/4 with Skybet. To boost your odds further, you can back them to win to nil at 11/4 with Paddpower or Betvictor.
