Premier League preview and odds: Chelsea vs Burnley

August 27 , 2016 15:00pm - Stamford Bridge

Premier League

With two wins from two games, Chelsea have enjoyed a perfect start to their season under the guidance of new coach Antonio Conte. Next up for the Blues is a home clash against a Burnley side who pulled off a shock win over Liverpool last weekend.

Blues looking hard to beat

Italian coach Antonio Conte has already made his mark on this Chelsea side, leading them to two narrow 2-1 victories in their opening games against Watford (away) and West Ham United (home). While those performances may have lacked flair, the results have been positive, and that will be a relief to Chelsea fans who may have been expecting their new coach to take some time to settle into the Premier League.

In both of those games, it took late goals from Diego Costa to secure all three points for the Londoners. After two such nervy encounters, a comfortable home win would go down nicely with the Stamford Bridge faithful who will be expecting a return to the top four this year.

Meanwhile, Burnley will be arriving in London in a buoyant mood after subjecting top four candidates Liverpool to their maiden defeat of the season at Turf Moor last weekend. While the Clarets barely had the ball in that game, they did make full use of their limited possession by hitting Klopp`s men on the break and notching two goals from their only two shots on target. That win helped to ease the pain of their 0-1 opening day defeat at home to Swansea City.

Sean Dyche`s men will be competing in their first away game of the season and once again, they can be expected to concede plenty of possession to their rivals. However, they will be facing an arguably tougher defensive unit this weekend and goal scoring ooportunites will be limited. If they could come away with a draw, it would be a great result for the newly-promoted side.

Betting odds and tips

Chelsea have already shown a different side under their new coach and will be a tough team to get past this season.

Burnley may have beaten Liverpool at home last week but it is hard to see them taking anything away Stamford Bridge.

The odds on Chelsea will be short so look at the goal scorer market instead.
