CHELSEA V galaTASARAY, Tuesday 18th March, 19:45, ITV1
Chelsea will look to bounce back after their disappointing loss to Aston Villa on Saturday in when they entertain galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Blues are tied 1-1 from the first leg in Turkey though have that crucial away goal in the bag and will be confident of doing the job at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are unbeaten in their three games against the Turkish side and are 2/5 to come out on top here. The London side can also take heart from the fact that they are unbeaten in their last seven Champions League knockout games and have won ten of their last 12 home games in this competition. Galatasaray meanwhile have never won on their eight previous eight trips to England in all competitions (drawing three, losing five). The Turkish side are also winless in their last four away games in the Champions League. They did though win away from home in the last 16 last season beating Schalke and they are 17/2 (betfair SPORTSBOOK) to win here.
A 0-0 draw would be enough to send the English side through and it is 4/1 (GENERAL) that the game ends all square and 15/1 (BETVICTOR) that the game ends 0-0. A 1-1 draw would send the match to extra time and this is available at 9/1 (BETVICTOR).
In terms of goalscoring options then Fernando Torres is likely to lead the Chelsea line and the Spaniard has scored six goals in his last five Champions League starts and is 9/2 (bet365/CORAL) to score the opener and 13/10 (bet365/BWIN) to net at anytime. Didier Drogba has scored more goals than any other player in the Champions League and he looks value to grab here at 12/1 to score first or 4/1 at anytime (bet365). The Turkish side will come to attack and the Ivory Coast forward has always been the man for the big occasion.
RECOMMENDATION: Didier Drogba to score v Chelsea, first 12/1, anytime 4/1 (bet365)
REAL MADRID V SCHALKE, Tuesday 18th March, 19:45, SKY SPORTS 1
Real Madrid are 2/9 (GENERAL) to see off a Schalke side that they destroyed 6-1 in the first leg. I know many will be tempted to add them to the accumulators though it is not a price that interest me as 6-1 is such a big score at the halfway point that you can expect the Spanish side to be on cruise control. Not that I would have any interest in backing the German team at 14/1 (GENERAL) or the draw at 7/1 (888 SPORT/unibet) after the way they were ripped apart in the opening game.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the topscorer in this competition this season with 11 goals and a remarkable 32 in his last 25 games and he is 9/4 (CORAL) to open the scoring and just 1/2 with the same firm to score at anytime. A better play though is Gareth Bale who scored two in the first leg and has netted twice in the last three games that the Spanish side have played. The Welshman has finally found his feet and is 11/10 (ladbrokes) to score at anytime. Staying with Real Madrid and I think they represent great value at 4/1 (GENERAL) to win the UEFA Champions League. The Spanish side are on a 30 game unbeaten run in all competitions and are one of two unbeaten teams in the tournament this season.
RECOMMENDATION: Gareth Bale to score at anytime v Schalke, 11/10 (ladbrokes)
Real Madrid to win UEFA Champions League, 4/1 (GENERAL)
