Gyan can do the damage for Ghana once more

Eight places still remain up for grabs in the World Cup finals and here is our guide to the best of the bets from the four remanining non-European play-offs.

Ghana are all but a miracle a way from a place in Brazil 2014 after they hammered Egypt 6-1 in the first leg. The Black Stars are 11/4 (bet365/BETVICTOR) to complete the job on Tuesday afternoon (16:00, BT SPORT) when they travel to Egypt for the second leg and many will fancy them to do so after dominating the first leg. A word of caution though that five goal cushion will mean that Ghana will switch off a little. Egypt have lost just two of their last 20 internationals at home winning each of their last five and you have to think they will be out to repair some wounded pride and they can be backed at 23/20 (william hill).

In the anytime scorer market Amr Zaky might be of interest for Egypt having grabbed four goals in his last five games and he can be backed at 5/2 (BETVICTOR). The player that interest me most is Asamoah Gyan who is 5//2 (BETVICTOR) to score at anytime and he netted twice in the first leg. The former Sunderland man now has ten goals in his last eight in all competitions and has to be backed at these prices.

The other African World Cup play-off second leg looks a lot more interesting and sees Algeria up against Burkina Faso on Tuesday evening (18:15, BT SPORT).

Burkina Faso are 3-2 up from the first leg and are the 13/8 (paddy Power) outsiders to qualify for the next round. Algeria are at home and can take heart from a recent 2-0 friendly win over Burkina Faso a similar scoreline would result in them going straight through. You can back the Foxes to qualify at odds of13/20 (betway).

In terms of the second leg it is 1/2 (GENERAL) an Algeria victory while the draw is 3/1 (GENERAL) and Burkina Faso are available at 15/2 (BETVICTOR).

The best bet in this game is in the both teams to score market which seems overpriced at 13/8 (CORAL) considering the five goals these sides produced in the first leg.

New Zealand take on Mexico on Wednesday (05:00, PREMIER SPORTS) in a game that is meaningless thanks to a comprehensive first leg victory for Mexico who emerged as 5-1 victors. It is as short as 1/2 (GENERAL) then that Mexico win the second leg while the All Whites are 6/1 (GENERAL) and it is 7/2 (BETVICTOR) that the game ends in a draw.

Oribe Peralta did the business for us in the first leg and I am pleased to see that bet365 are still offering odds of 7/5 on him to score anytime. The Mexican forward got two goals in the first leg to make it seven from his last six for the international team and he will fancy his chances here of getting among the goals once more.

The joke on Twitter was that Uruguay would have had a tough play-off test if they have taken on Jordan Henderson rather than the nation of Jordan such was the one-sided nature of the first leg that the South Americans won 5-0. Bookmakers have Uruguay an unbackable 1/16 (GENERAL) to win the second leg while Jordan are of no interest at 66/1 (BETVICTOR). This looks a fixture I think the bookmakers have right from a betting point of view and with better bets around this is a game to give a miss.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Asamoah Gyan to score v Egypt, 5/2 (BETVICTOR)
SILVER: Oribe Peralta to score anytime v New Zealand, 7/5 (bet365)
BRONZE: BOTH teams to score Algeria and Burkina Faso, 13/8 (CORAL)
