Bookmakers make England the 21/20 (william hill) favourites for the friendly with Chile on Friday night (20:00, ITV Sport). The game pits the side in 10th (England) and the team in 12th (Chile) in the FIFA World Rankings in an intriguing battle. England have great home form from their last 18 games with twelve wins, five draws and just one defeat including victories in each of their last four. That being said though the odds are a little short against the visitors who could be dark horses in the World Cup in Brazil in 2014. Chile are unbeaten in their last two visits to England winning here in 98 and drawing here in 89. The South Americans are in good form with six wins and three draws from their last nine games including draws away to Colombia, Brazil and Spain. They are 10/3 (TOTESPORT/betfred/STAN JAMES) for victory while the draw is 5/2 (GENERAL).

It is a tough game to call so instead I will recommend a couple of anytime scorer bets. The market is headed by with Wayne Rooney at 17/10 (888 SPORT/BWIN/unibet). The Man United striker has scored in the last two England games and nine times in 18 games this season. Instead though I like the look of Jay Rodriguez who could be handed a start in the absence of Sturridge and Lambert. The Southampton man has netted three in his last six games for the Saints and will fancy his chances against a Chile side that has shipped seven goals in their last three away games. Rodriguez can be backed at 10/3 (william hill).

I also think that Chile can get among the goals as they have done so in 15 of their last 16 matches and the player I like the look of Carlos Munoz at 7/2 (TOTESPORT/betfred/CORAL) to score at anytime. Munoz was the top scorer in the Chilean league last season and he’ll be looking to put himself in the January transfer window.

The unlikely pairing of Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane could not have asked for an easier start to their international management career than a home game against a Latvia side with just two wins from their last 15 matches. The Republic should win but they are unbackable at the short odds of 10/29 (BWIN) for the game on Friday night (19:45 SKY SPORTS). Earlier that evening the other O’Neill (Michael) will lead his Northern Ireland side out against Turkey and this looks so one sided. That being said Northern Ireland specialise in the art of the shock result and I will swerve the home side at odds of 4/11 (GENERAL).

Scotland take on USA (20:00, SKY SPORTS) and Gordon Strachan will hope to keep the decent run his side are on with wins over Croatia and Macedonia and narrow defeats to England and Belgium and they can be backed at 2/1 (ladbrokes/SPREADEX) for victory. The loss of Jordan Rhodes is a blow though and the US are no mugs having won 11 of their last 12 and they are 8/5 (WILLIAM HILL) and the draw is 12/5 (GENERAL). Chris Coleman has just been awarded a new deal as Wales boss to take him to the end of qualifying for the 2016 Euros and his Welsh side are 13/10 (WILLIAM HILL) to see off Finland (Saturday, 18:00, SKY SPORTS). If man of the moment Aaron Ramsey is fit then this could be the bet against a Finland that struggle away from home.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Jay Rodriguez to score anytime v Chile, 10/3 (WILLIAM HILL)
SILVER: Carlos Munoz to score anytime v England, 7/2 (TOTESPORT/betfred/CORAL)
BRONZE: Wales to beat Finland, 13/10 (WILLIAM HILL)
