Orient express to continue to steamroll

League 1

Leyton Orient have won seven of their nine league games away from home this season including a 3-1 victory at Swindon on Saturday. It is a surprise then to see the table toppers available at 7/5 (SKYBET) to see off struggling Bristol City. The Robins lost at home to Sheff United at the weekend making it four home defeats for the season in League One. Orient are stacked with striking talent and with the way they are playing simply have to be backed at those prices to win this game.

Second place Wolves are a short price of 4/7 (boylesports/CORAL) to see off a Tranmere side who produced the performance of the weekend when winning at Coventry and not just winning, hammering the Sky Blues 5-1. The Merseysiders will be full of confidence and so I can not be taking the side from the Midlands at such a short price. It might be worth taking a little interest on Ryan Lowe to score at anytime at in this game after netting three at Coventry. The Tranmere front man has netted eight goals from his last eight games in all competitions and is available at 11/4 (bet365) to get a goal.

The big game of the day sees Brentford take on Peterborough in a game between the sides in third (Posh) and fourth (the Bees). Brentford are the side in form with six wins and one draw from their last seven in all competitions and they are 5/4 (boylesports/888 SPORT/unibet) to see off a Peterborough side with no wins in the last five league games, including four straight defeats.

Leaders Oxford were one of seven sides in the top eight who won at the weekend with the other side drawing. On Tuesday night Oxford are at home to sixth placed Newport in the game of the day. Both sides do not have the best of midweek records with Oxford managing five goals in their last seven Tuesday league games while Newport have only won two of their last 19 Tuesday fixtures in the Football League. It is 23/20 (BETVICTOR) an Oxford victory while the Exiles are 11/4 (BOYLESPORTS) and the draw is 12/5 (GENERAL).

David O’Leary is the man that the Scunthorpe board are rumoured to have targeted as new manager which would be a fascinating appointment. The Irishman has not had a job in this country since 2006 when being sacked by Aston Villa though he did have a small spell in charge of an Emirates side. It could be a move that backfires or one that maybe just gets the Iron going. At one stage as boss of Leeds O’Leary had his side challenging in the Premier League and the Champions League and as long as the game has not passed him by in terms of coaching style you have to think he must still have some of those skills left in him. Scunthorpe for their part have a difficult game with Rochdale on Tuesday night and are 3/1 (GENERAL) for the victory as they look to build on a recent 2-1 victory over Portsmouth.

The final recommendation comes in the anytime scorer market in the game between AFC Wimbledon and Dagenham & Redbridge where Andrew Frampton looks value at 12/1 (betfred/paddy Power/william hill). The AFC Wimbledon defender has four goals from his last seven games in League Two and should not be available at this price.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Leyton Orient to beat Bristol City, 7/5 (SKYBET)
SILVER: Ryan Lowe to score anytime v Wolves,
BRONZE: Andrew Frampton to score anytime v Dagenham & Redbridge, 12/1 (betfred/paddy Power/william hill)
