Scots look value to get something from Norway trip

As much as the English media will hype up the fact that no game between England and Germany can be an international friendly, the truth is that is exactly what it is on Tuesday night (20:00, ITV). The German manager Jogi Low (who is my own personal style icon) seems to agree and he has promised to rotate his squad. England will field a strong side as Roy Hodgson is both incapable of experiment and in need of a victory after a loss to Chile.

Bookmakers the visiting Germans the 6/4 (YOU WIN) favourites for the game as they go into the game with just one loss from their last 16 games. The Germans will take heart from the fact the team at home has won just one of the last five head-to-head battles. A loss to Chile at Wembley represented a blow for Roy Hodgson and I am sure his players will be keen to put that right against Germany and the defeat against the South Americans on Friday represented only their third at home since the start of 2008. England can be backed at 21/10 (GENERAL) while the draw is priced at 5/2 (GENERAL).

This is a game that I can not find any value on so a watching brief is recommended.

A draw with the USA on Friday night was a good result for Scotland as the Stars and Stripes are on a great run of form themselves and this can prove a pointer to two winning bets on Tuesday night.

Firstly take the 9/5 (BETVICTOR) on Scotland in the draw no bet market to get something from their visit to Norway. Norway are 11/10 (paddy Power/william hill) favourites for the game however they have won just one of their last six games and that was at home to Cyprus. In this spell they have lost to Sweden, Switzerland, Slovenia and Denamrk while drawing with Iceland. Scotland meanwhile have lost just two of their last six and these were narrow defeats to England and Belgium.

The game in Vienna might, in the words of Midge Ure, might mean nothing to both sides on Tuesday. It does though offer a good bet as the USA though are in good form and after a draw in Scotland have now lost just two of their last 15 international friendlies. They take an Austria side who have won just one of their last four friendlies at home. You can get the USA in the draw no bet market at 8/5 (CORAL) which looks worth a little interest.

The Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane era got off to a strong start with a 3-0 victory though Latvia at home was a kind start. Things will be a little trickier for the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday night (19:45, PREMIER SPORTS) when they are away to Poland. Bookmakers make the Poles the 7/10 (CORAL) favourites as they have lost just four of their last 23 home internationals while the Republic have failed to win any of their last six. I think though you might get a performance out of the Republic and this could end in a draw.

The bet I would like to recommend comes in the anytime scorer market where Robbie Keane looks value. The LA galaxy frontman has eight from his last eight for the national team including a goal in the last two. He is a generous 11/4 (paddy Power/888 SPORT/unibet) against a side who have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Scotland draw no bet v Norway, 9/5 (BETVICTOR)
SILVER: USA draw no bet v Austria, 8/5 (CORAL)
BRONZE: Robbie Keane to score anytime v Poland, 11/4 (paddy power/888 SPORT/unibet)
