Premier League preview and odds: Manchester City vs West Ham United

August 28 , 2016 16:00pm - Etihad Stadium

Premier League

Title favourites Manchester City will be looking to maintain their perfect record under new boss Pep Guardiola on Sunday when they play host to a West Ham United side who were dumped out of the Europa League by Astra Giurgiu in midweek.

Perfect start for Pep

Pep Guardiola has now won four out of four competitive matches since being installed as Manchester City boss. As well as prevailing in his first two Premier League matches, he also led his side to victory in both legs of their Champions League qualifying clash with Steaua Bucharest.

With each game that passes, his side is looking fitter and are evolving their style to reflects the coach’s’ game philosophy. Last week, they strolled to a 4-1 victory away to Stoke City before completing a 6-0 aggregate demolition of the Romanian side in midweek without moving out of first gear.

West Ham picked up their first points of the season last weekend when they beat relegation candidates Bournemouth 1-0 on home soil. However, they followed that up with a disastrous 1-0 defeat at home to Astra Giurgiu that saw them exit the Europa League at the qualification stage. The Hammers will now try to bounce back from that disappointment by taking on the Premier Leagu title favourites in their own back yard.

Team news

Guardiola is still without the injured trio of Leroy Sane, Ilkay Gundogan and Vincent Kompany.

Meanwhile, Slaven Bilic will have to cope without then services of Andy Carroll, Andre Ayew, Sofiane Feghouli, Aaron Cresswell, Doneil Henry and Diafra Sakho who are all still out injured..

Betting odds and tips

Injury-hit West Ham have had a bad week and it is not likely to get any better on Sunday. However they have scored in all of their last 15 Premier League matches.

City are looking slicker with each game that passes and should have enough to come through this game unscathed. With the odds so short on a home win, add Both Teams to the equation.
