Agbonlahor to torment Canaries once more

It has been an interesting last few weeks for Gabriel Agbonlahor who encountered the rage of teenage girls everywhere for having the ’nerve’ to tackle and injure a member of One Direction in a Testimonial game.Agbonlahor should receive a warm round of applause from football fans everywhere though maybe not at Carrow Road where memories are raw of the damage the player did to them last May in a vital relegation three-pointer.

The Villa forward is 3/1 (betfred/BETVICTOR) which is excellent value considering he has scored three times in his last four league apperances against the Canaries and his pace should cause the Norwich backline a number of problems.

Bookmakers have Norwich the 7/5 (GENERAL) favourites to win the Saturday lunchtime game against Aston Villa (12:45,BT SPORT) and the Canaries have lost just one of their last 11 home games in the league, though that defeat come to Villa in May. This marked the second time Villa won at Carrow Road last season as they triumphed here in the League Cup. Villa can be backed at 85/40 (BETVICTOR) while the draw is 12/5 (GENERAL).

It looks a tough game to call so instead stick to the player markets where I like the look of Ashley Westwood in the anytime assist market that boylesports offer. Ashley Westwood created both those Agbonlahor goals last season and it is a feature of Norwich games that they are willing to surrend a lot of possesion in midfield. Both these sides sit bottom of the possession stats for the division with 42% each. Westwood will have more time on the ball than normal and the 4/1 seems decent that he can use this time to create a goal.

The live game in the evening (SKY, 17:30) comes from Stamford Bridge where Chelsea entertain Fulham. Jose Mourinho will have to get his men to bounce back after two straight defeats and you suspect Fulham are probably the ideal visitors as they have not won any of their last 14 in the league against Chelsea. A victory for the Blues is priced at 3/10 (GENERAL). The Whites though can take heart from the fact that they have managed a draw on their last three visits to Stamford Bridge and the draw is availabe at 23/5 (888 SPORT/unibet) and a Fulham victory is 11/1 (STAN JAMES).

The best bet in this game comes in the under 2.5 goals market which can be backed at 11/8 (BETVICTOR). Chelsea are struggling for goals having netted just once in their last three (discounting the UEFA Super Cup) while Fulham are doing likewise having grabbed just three in their four league games this season. The head-to-head record also supports this with six of the last seven and each of the last four at Stamford Bridge going under.

The lunchtime game in the Championship sees Charlton take on Millwall (12:15, SKY) at the Valley in a London derby. Bookmakers make Charlton the 6/5 (BETVICTOR/william hill) favourites and I think this is quite nice odds. The Addicks have shown signs of life in recent weeks with a victory over Leicester in their last home game before a draw at Watford. They did lose to Huddersfield on Tuesday but that is no disgrace. Opponents Millwall registered a big win against Blackpool on Tuesday but I think they will have put a lot of energy into that game and away from home they have picked up just three points from their last six league games.

BEST OF THE BETS

GOLD: Charlton to beat Millwall, 6/5 (BETVICTOR/william hill)
SILVER: Gabriel Agbonlahor to score anytime v Norwich, 3/1 (betfred/BETVICTOR)
BRONZE: Ashley Westwood to assist anytime v Norwich, 4/1 (boylesports)
