Before we get to the Championship action a quick look at the other big game Monday night which comes from the wonderfully named Coliseum which is the home of Getafe. Athletic Bilbao are the visitors as the sides who are in fifth and sixth in the Spanish division do battle. Bookmakers are struggling to split the pair with the home team Getafe available at 9/5 (STAN JAMES) while the visiting Bilbao can be backed at 7/4 (GENERAL) while the draw is 12/5 (BETVICTOR).
I think at these prices it has to be worth an interest in Getafe as they have won each of their last four games and take on a Bilbao side who have lost each of their last three away from home. History is also not on the side of Bilbao as they have failed to win on nine previous visits to Getafe.
The live domestic football Monday night comes from the Championship and the Amex Stadium as Brighton entertain Watford (19:45, SKY). Bookmakers make Brighton the 13/8 (BETVICTOR/paddy Power/ladbrokes) narrow favourites for the game as they look to bounce back from a run of form that has seen them take just two points from their last four games. The Seagulls sit in 16th place while the visiting Hornets are in seventh.
Watford have won two of their last three away games and will fancy their chances here as they are unbeaten on their last three visits to the South Coast and can be backed at odds of 19/10 (boylesports) while the draw is on offer at 12/5 (GENERAL).
Troy Deeney has scored in each of his last three appearances against Brighton for Watford and he is 7/4 (TOTESPORT/betfred) to net at anytime in this game. The player also has six goals from 11 this season though is on a barren run with just one from his last nine. At slightly bigger prices I prefer the chances of teammate Lewis McGugan who has five goals this season and is averaging a large number of shots this season. The former Forest man can be backed at 7/2 (SKYBET) which looks decent value.
In terms of Brighton players Leroy Lita is considered the main goal threat at 2/1 (betfred.STAN JAMES) while Will Buckley is a 45/17 (888 SPORT/unibet) chance though the player I like the look of is Andrew Crofts. The Welsh midfielder has three goals already this season and has a great shot on him. His odds of 10/1 (888 SPORT/unibet) to net at anytime look generous.
In terms of correct score bookmakers make the 1-1 draw the favourite at 13/2 (BETVICTOR/ladbrokes). Four of the last six meetings between the pair have ended 1-0 and you can get 9/1 (BETVICTOR/ladbrokes) that the Seagulls win this 1-0 while the Hornets to win by the same scoreline is a 19/2 (BETVICTOR) chance.
Those interested in the goals markets can get 4/5 (STAN JAMES) that both teams score while it is 6/5 (SPREADEX) that both teams do not. In terms of the over 2.5 markets bookmakers are reasonably split with over 2.5 goals a best priced evens (BETVICTOR) while under 2.5 goals can be backed at 10/11 (CORAL/william hill).
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Getafe to beat Bilbao, 9/5 (STAN JAMES)
SILVER: Lewis McGugan to score at anytime v Brighton, 7/2 (SKYBET)
BRONZE: Andrew Crofts to score at anytime v Watford, 10/1 (888 SPORT/unibet)
