The best bet in the Champions League on Tuesday night comes in the game between Porto and Zenit with the Russians value to get something from their visit to Portugal.
It is 26/19 (BETVICTOR/WINNER) on the Russian side with a 0.5 start on the Asian Handicap which will pay out if the game ends drawn or in a Zenit victory. Zenit have lost just one of their last 13 in the Russian league and just one of their last eight in this competition. One other bet I like the look is Hulk to score at anytime which is available at 16/5 (paddy Power). The Brazilian will be hungry to net against his old side and having grabbed eight goals in his last ten games looks value to net here and silence the home fans.
It promises to be a real cracker on Tuesday night as the Champions League returns and the Premier League leaders Arsenal meet the runners-up of the tournament from last season, Borussia Dortmund at the Emirates (19:45, ITV).
Arsenal have won both group games so far this season and at 7/5 (GENERAL) will have their supporters here against the German team. The Gunners have only lost four of their last 47 home games in the Champions League, but the last two defeats have come against German sides and it is 2/1 (GENERAL) a Dortmund victory.
The German team though have won only one of their last 11 Champions League away games and on none of their last four visits to England. If you think this game will end in a draw then you can back this at 13/5 (sportingbet/BETVICTOR/william hill). This is a difficult game and while it should be a real treat to watch it is not one to bet on.
I think the 5/2 (GENERAL) on the game between Schalke and Chelsea ending in a draw looks good value. The Germans are unbeaten in their last 13 Champions League group games (winning nine, drawing four) and have won both games in the group so far. Chelsea have three points from two games and I imagine Mourinho will think a four point split from these two games will be a good return. So take the price on this to end all square.
After defeats in their opening two group games Celtic face a must win game with Ajax. The Scottish side will be pleased to be at a home they have made a fortress in this competition losing just four of their last 25 in this tournament (with three of these coming against Barcelona). Bookmakers make the Glasgow side the 6/4 (GENERAL) favourites for the game against an Ajax side who have won only one of their last 10 Champions League games.
The Dutch side can take heart from the fact that Celtic have lost their last four in this competition without scoring a goal while Ajax won 1-0 in Glasgow (against Rangers in 1996/97) on their last visit. If you think Ajax can take all three points here then you can back them to do so at 21/10 (SKYBET) while the draw is 5/2 (BETVICTOR/william hill). This looks a tough game to call from a betting point of view so I will sit this one out.
The remaining games on the Tuesday night sees Atletico Madrid away to Austria Vienna, Steaua Bucharest are at home to Basel ,Napoli are away to Marseille and Lionel Messi could be back for Barcelona for their trip to Milan.
BEST OF THE BETS
GOLD: Zenit +0.5 on the Asian Handicap v Porto, 26/19 (BETVICTOR/WINNER)
SILVER: Hulk to score anytime v Porto, 16/5 (paddy Power)
BRONZE: Schalke and Chelsea to end in a draw, 5/2 (GENERAL)
