HAMILTON to hit a Hammer blow for Chisnall hopes the temperature is rising on the World Matchplay Darts as the second round gets underway Tuesday night. Here is our guide to the best of the bets from these games. Things get underway 19:00 as eighth seed Andy Hamilton takes on ninth seed Dave Chisnall. It is Chisnall who is the bookmakers favourite for the game at 4/7 with the Hammer the 5/4 outsider of the pair. Both players looked in good form in the opening round with Chizzy averaging 98.96 in a 10-4 defeat of Dean Winstanley while the Hammer averaged 94.92 in easing past Wayne Jones 10-3. I expected to see prices of 10/11 the pair when you consider how close the duo are in terms of seeds and then in the PDC Order of Merit so I was surprised then to see Hamilton available at 5/4 with bet365. This looks the way to play this game especially if you consider that he won comfortably (6-1) when the pair last met.

The second match of the evening (20:00) sees James Wade take on Richie Burnett with the Machine as short as 1/5 for victory. Wade saw off Andy Smith 10-5 in the opening round with a three dart average of 93.01. The Prince of Wales (Burnett) meanwhile had an almost identical three dart average (93.85) in seeing off Brendan Dolan 10-4. The pair have met five times before and it is Wade who has come out on top each time. If you think Burnett can finally get back at Wade then you can back him at 10/3 while he is given a 4.5 start on the handicap. The bet I like in this game is in the total 180s market where I think it makes sense to go under the set line of 9.5. Neither player really troubled the big scores in the last game with Wade taking just three and Burnett two so unders looks the way to go here. The third battle of the night (21:00) sees the tournament favourite Michael van Gerwen in action as he takes on Ian White. Mighty Mike is as short as 1/6 for victory though he might not have things his own way against White who produced a 101.37 three dart average in his first round defeat of Terry Jenkins. If you think the Dutchman is line for the shock exit then you can take White at 4/1 while he is given a 4.5 leg start on the handicap. These two players have met eight times before with van Gerwen winning six of these including each of the last five. I can not see past him progressing here though the odds are a little restrictive. White looks capable of winning the eight legs needed to push this match past the 20.5 total legs margin so take the overs.

The final match of the evening looks to be the battle to watch as two of the best players in the World do battle when Simon Whitlock takes on Raymond van Barneveld. bet365 have Barney the 8/13 favourite for the game with the Australian available at 13/10. Barney had an easy route to the second round after comfortably seeing off Vincent van der Voort 10-4 while Whitlock defeated Kevin Painter 10-6. Both players produced almost identical three dart averages with the Dutch man throwing 92.79 and the Australian a shade better at 93.88. This could be a close one as the head-to-head record suggest with 23 previous meetings having produced 11 wins for Barney, 10 for Whitlock and two draws. Whitlock won in July when the pair last met though Barney had won the three previous. Take the Dutchman in the 180s market as he was in scintillating maximum form in his last game grabbing eight.

RECOMMENDATION: Andy Hamilton to defeat Dave Chisnall, 5/4, bet365
Under 9.5 180s between Wade and Burnett, 10/11, bet365
Over 20.5 legs between van Gerwen and White, 4/6, BET365
van Barneveld most 180s against Whitlock, 21/20, BET365
