Youzhny overpriced to smash Tipsarevic

There are some live match outsiders in the Wimbledon men`s singles third round, none more capable of creating what bookmakers would consider an upset than Mikhail Youzhny.

The Russian`s opponent in the last 32 is Janko Tipsarevic, a player whom he has met four times during his professional career for two wins and two losses, all on hard courts.

There are two pretty interesting things about the four previous meetings of Youzhny and Tipsarevic. First, the Russian has won the most recent two matches. And second, while they have taken five sets apiece, two of the Serbian`s successes have come in the lotteries that are tie-breaks.

There is little to choose between Youzhny and Tipsarevic in terms of grass-court form - both men have multiple Wimbledon fourth-round appearances under their belt but nothing better - but, if anything, the Russian edges the Serbian because of his recent performances at pre-Wimbledon event in Halle.

Profitable betting is all about obtaining value and Youzhny, while far from guaranteed to beat Tipsarevic and reach the Wimbledon fourth round for the seventh time since 2001, is worth a bet because he is over the odds at around 7-4.

Juan Monaco was worth following versus Jeremy Chardy in round two but it is time to get off him and climb aboard Viktor Troicki, whom he meets in the third round.

There was a value case for backing Monaco to beat Chardy but the bottom line is that the Argentinian is not happy on grass courts and, also, he trails Troicki 0-2 lifetime.

Troicki defeated Monaco 3-6 6-4 6-2 on an Auckland hard court in 2009 and, later that year, franked the form by triumphing 6-1 6-2 on a similar surface in Shanghai.

Given that Monaco had not won a match at Wimbledon before this year`s tournament got under way and Troicki has won seven of his 11 matches in London`s SW19, there is little doubt that the Serbian is generously priced at around 7-4.

Nicolas Almagro leads Richard Gasquet 3-0 but none of the Spaniard is far inferior to the Frenchman on grass so that is one match to swerve, as is Roger Federer`s encounter with Julien Benneteau. The Swiss superstar is not deserving of general 1-50 quotes given that he lost his last match against the Frenchman 3-6 7-6 6-4 on a Paris hard court.

In the Wimbledon women`s singles third round, Sorana Cirstea is worth a second look at around the 5-4 mark for her match versus Maria Kirilenko, the number 17 seed from Russia.

Neither woman has reached the Wimbledon fourth round before but they have met on a grass court previously, back in 2008 when Cirstea defeated Kirilenko 7-5 6-4 in Rosmalen.

Cirstea and Kirilenko have shared their subsequent meetings but it is the result of their grass-court clash that sticks out and why the Romanian represents value at around 13-8.

Punters who like a speculative bet may be interested in a gamble on Vera Zvonareva beating Kim Clijsters.

Zvonareva is available at 7-2 even though the head-to-head score between the Russian and the Belgian stands at 2-2 on all surfaces and 1-0 to the outsider on grass.

The 12th seed defeated the unseeded four-time Grand Slam singles champion 3-6 6-4 6-2 at Wimbledon in 2010.
