The struggle against relegation is becoming a fascinating tussle for a number of clubs and the battle to beat the drop may be left a lot clearer following another crucial weekend in the Barclays Premier League.

Despite recently pulling off a miracle comeback to beat Liverpool at home, QPR are still lodged in the bottom three after losing comprehensively 3-1 at Sunderland.

The Hoops’ next match at Loftus Road is against Arsenal and it marks the start of an extremely tough run in for Mark Hughes’ side.

The Gunners are enjoying a rich run of form after winning six matches in a row – a hot streak which should continue when they make the short trip across the capital aiming to consolidate third place in the table.

At 8/13, Arsenal look a fair bet to triumph and will undoubtedly be one of the more popular betting selections across the course of the footballing weekend.

Only Wigan and Wolves sit below QPR in the top flight and the former will be keen to follow up and keep momentum when they take on Stoke City at the DW Stadium.

The Latics claimed a shock 1-2 success against a poor Liverpool side at Anfield on their last outing and may be good value to double up at 13/8 providing that punters can keep the faith.

Stoke will undoubtedly be a tough nut to crack however they are not quite the same force away from the Brittania Stadium and Wigan have on occasions delivered some highly spirited performances in front of their own supporters.

Wolves on the other hand cannot buy a point at the moment and their recent 2-1 reversal at Norwich has left them in deep trouble.

A home fixture against fellow strugglers Bolton Wanderers represents a realistic chance to stop the rot however the Trotters will be full of confidence again having beaten Blackburn Rovers at the Reebok.

The 2/1 on offer for an away success is a decent wager and the same can be said for Manchester United who are overpriced at 4/9 to triumph at Ewood Park come Monday night.

Tottenham broke a run of three consecutive losses with a draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and Harry Redknapp’s side will be out to get back to winning ways at home to Swansea City.

Spurs don’t make a great deal of appeal at strong odds-on however they should be able to see off the Swans who appeared to be fizzling out when beaten convincingly at home to Everton.

The Toffees are in contention to finish the campaign in the top half and their position should be consolidated when West Brom visit Goodison Park.

Everton are 3/4 to beat Roy Hodgson’s side who are far weaker on the road and that price should appeal to the majority of backers – especially those who choose to select home wins.

Many may also opt to side with Fulham at the same price when they take on Norwich in another mid-table scrap at Craven Cottage.
