The high street bookmaker bet365 has been offering betting opportunities in the U.K. since 1974. They moved into online wagering in 2001, gradually creating web sites for casino games, poker, bingo and financials as well as sports and horserace betting.

Today, the company’s Internet presence reaches a customer base of over five million accounts in some 200 countries. The bet365 Group Limited ranks among the world’s top online gambling services, and with more than 1,700 workers, it has become the U.K.’s seventh largest private company.

One of the more recent services to be launched as part of the bet365 Sportsbook & Racebook operations is Live Betting, also known as “in-running” or “in-play” betting, which can be accessed via the In-Play tab from any page on the bet365 web site. This betting section provides the opportunity to wager while events are in progress as graphic updates or live streaming videos are displayed.

A lengthy calendar of upcoming events is presented so that bettors can plan their viewing times. Sports range from football to table tennis and more. In fact, just about every major event is covered as well as many minor ones across such categories as rugby, boxing, cricket, golf and tennis, Gaelic sports and North American favourites like basketball, baseball, ice hockey and American football.

What makes bet365 live betting even more exciting, however, is the huge number of special markets available for events. When wagering on a tennis match, for example, it is possible to place a bet on each point of every set. Wagers such as “Next Game First Point” and “Next Game to Deuce” add an entirely new dimension to viewing and wagering on a match-up. Handicap bets are also offered.

Clicking on a selection from the In-Play menu automatically transfers the market to the Bet Slip for placing stakes and confirmation. The Bet Slip takes the same format used for ante-post and standard wagering on bet365 sports markets, so no special tutorials are required.

There is a dedicated link for “Live Streaming” at the top of the betting window. Clicking on it will reveal a separate pop-up window with controls for selecting events to view. Because only a select number of events are actually broadcast, it is not possible to watch all of the action associated with live betting as a video feed, but bet365 have overcome this drawback in a novel way.

Above the markets listing for each event in the center of the betting window, a representation of the pitch, rink, track or field used for the event is displayed graphically. A data box also appears with ever-changing information on scores and results pertinent to wagers. It contains a real-time clock that counts down time remaining or elapsed. It is about as close to watching the event live that can be created.

Those who are new to bet365 and open an account are eligible for a 100% Initial Deposit Bonus, which can be applied to live betting as well as traditional wagering. The first deposit must be at least $20 or currency equivalent in order to qualify. The initial funds are then matched by an equal amount up to a limit of $200.

After the bonus has been confirmed, it can be accessed after playing through the amount of the initial deposit. Before a withdrawal can be made, the entire deposit and bonus must be rolled over and played through at least three times.

Promotions such as “Price Promise” and “Best Odds Guaranteed” apply to live betting on horse races through the In-Play section. Should the SP odds turn out to be different than those taken in-running, the higher of the two is always awarded. Additional markets for Each Way and Match-Ups are available for in-play races, too.
