Premier League

It really has been a season to forget for a number of the big clubs in the Barclays Premier League and the likes of Liverpool and Aston Villa will certainly be glad that things are over at the final whistle on Sunday May 13.

Liverpool square off against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium and the Welsh outfit have a genuine chance of finishing on a high especially if the Reds’ are still licking their wounds from their F.A Cup final defeat to Chelsea.

Brendan Rogers’ side are still likely to miss out on a top half finish regardless of the result but it has been a fantastic first Premier League campaign for the club nonetheless and they are sure to put everything into this final assignment, in hope of claiming a significant scalp to round their efforts off.

Swansea are well priced at 23/10 against a Liverpool team with nothing to play for and the same can be said for Norwich City at home to Aston Villa.

Villa’s point against Tottenham Hotspur last time out guaranteed their Premier League safety but they could well turn in another flaccid performance at Carrow Road and Norwich, similarly to Swansea, will be hoping to end an impressive first season in the top flight on a high.

Norwich are 13/10 to bank a home success and that definitely looks worth taking – punters certainly won’t want to be siding with Villa at 23/10 considering that they have only won seven games this term.

Blackburn Rovers and Wolves are already relegated prior to the last kick-off of the campaign and will bid farewell to the Premier League on Sunday.

Rovers couldn’t have asked for a tougher exit than an away fixture at Chelsea and they may well be on the receiving end of another trouncing.

Chelsea should still be in with a shout of finishing fourth and will not be taking any prisoners at the Bridge where they are heavy 3/10 favourites.

Wolves will play their last match in the top tier against Wigan Athletic who secured their Premier League status last weekend by beating Blackburn at Ewood Park.

The Latics had themselves looked doomed for the majority of the season but a string of fine results in recent weeks has lifted them clear of trouble.

There should be a party like atmosphere at the DW Stadium and Roberto Martinez’ men can bank another three points against bottom club Wolves at 8/15.

Stoke City vs. Bolton Wanderers ties up the action on the final day and the Trotters simply have to win if they are to avoid relegation to the Championship.

QPR currently sit two points ahead of Wanderers with a far superior goal difference, so Owen Coyle’s side must go for broke and hope that the Hoops are beaten as expected against Manchester City.

With everything at stake, Bolton are incredibly short in the betting and the 15/8 about their chances doesn’t make appeal.

Stoke may have nothing to play for but boss Tony Pulis is not the complacent type and he will be asking for a strong performance from his players to potentially lift the club up to eleventh or twelfth spot in the table.
