Swansea City will be seeking to overturn fellow top flight newcomers Norwich City in the Barclays Premier League table when the two teams meet at the Liberty Stadium of Saturday February 11.

Sitting in ninth and tenth places respectively, both Norwich and Swansea have impressed massively since their promotion and have done more than just hold their own against the established top tier clubs.

And the winner of this fixture will be confident of carrying momentum forward for the rest of the season and securing the honour being the highest performing club to have made the harsh transition from the Championship to the Premier League.

Swansea easily had the upper hand over Norwich in terms of head to head results last season however it was the Canaries who drew first blood this time around courtesy of a sound 3-1 success at Carrow Road in October.

That result was one of many defeats for the Welsh outfit on the road and they will indeed the confident of an improved showing and result against Norwich at the Liberty Stadium where they have excelled throughout the campaign.

Swansea have lost just once in twelve home matches which have included victories against the likes of Arsenal and Aston Villa – form which perhaps gives them a slight edge considering Norwich’s indifferent away record.

More importantly, the Swans have conceded just nine goals on their own turf and that makes them formidable opposition for even the best clubs in the division.

Norwich have hardly been disgraced on the road having taken thirteen points from their twelve away games however they have shipped 24 goals – a defensive record which can hardly fill potential backers with much confidence against a stern and sturdy home unit like Swansea.

Swansea’s overall consistency at the Liberty Stadium is likely to take them higher than Norwich by the end of the season and their own shabby away form received a welcome boost when they beat West Bromwich Albion in their last Premier League outing.

Norwich are certainly capable of initiating an attacking and open encounter – something which is not seen too often at the Welsh venue, however it is Swansea who look the obvious bet even at a shade of odds on.

Even money would definitely make more appeal to punters considering how closely matched both clubs are in terms of their league standing, nonetheless it would be hard to see why the bookmakers could lay anything bigger than the 10/11 generally on offer.

As mentioned, there is often a lack of goals at the Liberty Stadium, but this fixture has generated over 2.5 goals the last four occasions that the two teams have met and there could be some value in taking that wager this time around.

With safety almost in the bag for bosses Rogers and Lambert, the teams should be able to go and play with a decent amount of attacking freedom and the 11/10 for three goals or more can pay out against the grain for a game which many pundits will have marked down as a low scoring affair.
